 These are the thoughts from just one of the better known Bars here on the Urb. Going by the grapevine all seem to think the same. Problem is they are all a little too worried to say to much.

 Finally, summer is here and we all move outside, ****** lunch under the sun with an afternoon of music, Karaoke on ********* night as we sit under the star’s, ******** evening pitting your wits in the quiz by moonlight. Sounds like what we all moved to Spain for, but will the Spanish life come to an end for bars?  
 If our esteemed town council have their way then yes, our “outside” days are numbered. We have been told no live music under any circumstances; of course we can apply for special permission should we have an event such as a birthday etc., which is kind of them. 
 It seems that we must all live as Comatose Cabbages, just exist and whatever you do don’t enjoy yourself. They must be doing a good job looking at the number of comments on the different web forums slating the bars for music. 
 Ten years ago this Urbanisation was buzzing, the population was rising, facilities improving, bars and restaurants busy and full of atmosphere. San Fulgencio’s way of getting back to the good times is to listen to the cabbages and make life as hard as possible for bars. A dwindling population means lesser trade, taking away our Karaoke nights means a lesser trade, if it’s not hard enough to survive as it is. The ‘don’t enjoy yourself brigade’ also want this year’s summer fiesta cancelled as the noise infringes their human rights.
 Of course the recession has had a major impact on trade so naturally to make it harder you ban music, but our council wants to go even further to hit the bars, they are plugging a loop hole that let’s bar owners operate on the opening licence of whoever owns the actual property. This practice is widespread, 30 of the 45 bars do not have the correct licence. Licences must now be in the name of the person operating the business, to get this licence you must pay San Fulgencio council 1,000€, pay 2,400€* for an electrical engineer’s report and pay 2,700€* for the electrical rewiring of the property if it’s not up to current spec.  Interestingly, bars in the village which come under Elche only pay 25€ for a licence, where on earth do our council get 1,000€ from? So I need to pay 6,100€ just to continue what I have been doing for the last 9½ years. And when do they want this money, NOW! What planet do they live on? At this point in time, I do not know what the future holds.   
 The above said, I intend carrying on with ****** Lunch entertainment and Karaoke nights, we’ll just have to wait and see if the town hierarchy send their glorified messenger boy’s to twist the knife they have already stuck in.

 One thing is positive they will never ever get re-elected. 1st problem though is they could of almost closed down La Marina by then. 2nd problem is they think that by stopping our outside entertainment it will help us all here, NOT TRUE. Councillors by the way are Elected to HELP NOT Hinder.
 What a sad state of affairs for our La Marina that so many of us love so much?
