All of you who support the bars breaking the law ought to walk past them at 1 am and again at 2 am, the noise from the Hogs Head along with people screaming and shouting etc. is horrendous, just give a little thought to the local residents who have lived there long before the bars where built, remember in the summer these bars are open until 3 am and later.  No wonder the locals who live around the Consum area complained.   The bar owners could have kept the noise inside their premises and kept the volume down, instead they put two fingers up to the local residents.
 I have read on this forum that the Bar owners have done their best regards noise levels, I wonder how many of them have had the courtesy to ask the residents living locally if the noise they generate causes them a problem, I know that not one of them have had the decency to walk around and ask any of my neighbours or myself.  
 All of this may have been avoided had  the bars bothered to  fit noise limiters that cut off the power after the permitted decibels,  however the bars did as they pleased as they  knew the levels of noise was way above the permitted level in a residential area.  
 It is not as though the bar owners have had the issue of licences and soundproofing sprung on them, some Six or Seven years ago all the Bar owner were called to a meeting with the lord mayor and the rules and regulations for having music was laid out to them regards soundproofing and then again this year the council re-clarified the law, so they do not have an excuse.
 It is a shame that a few bars around the Consum area have spoilt it for everyone, however saying that the last three night of peace and quiet along with a good night’s sleep have reminded me of what it use to be like to live in Spain when our family invested in  our property many years back.
 Bar owners are claiming it costs a lot of money to be legal, so what, abiding by the law can cost money, my son pays nearly €1800 per year just to insure his car and make it legal to drive.
 The Consum bars should either abide by the law or else relocate to an area that does not impact on the quality of life of the residents.
