Today was a first time at Bonalba for many of the members and the first time the Society had played there for many years. The course was in great condition, the only criticism would be the bunkers, which were devoid of sand and rock hard. All the members enjoyed the day and expressed their wishes to return for future dates. We are in fact booked again during September for our match with the Scottish Prison Warders Team. I would like to thank Richard Davies for organising our visit so well (the society names on the buggies didn’t matter). The scoring today was relatively low but this in no way detracted from the enjoyment. It was also great to see a 1st time winner of the monthly trophy; congratulations to Andy Giles for a winning score of 31 points, 2 strokes off the handicap next time out though. 2nd with a return of 29 points was Bill Street (we won’t here the last of that), and 3rd was one of the usual suspects, Dave Cooper with 27 points. The best score of the day however was 36 points returned by a guest John Haig congratulations to him. He was so impressed he decided to join the society so he can win the vouchers next time. Also Dave Wilson who has played with us on a number of occasions elected to become a member, so a warm welcome to both. Andy Giles continued his winning ways when he also won the blackout card, he should make sure he buys a lottery ticket this week As usual we returned to the Final Whistle for the presentations and an excellent buffet, thanks to Linda & Co and a special thanks to Elaine for a very tasty chilli.
