DOG WALKERS
 
 You may offer to walk a big dog, a tiny dog, old an old dog, an injured dog or a dog that has just had a lifesaving operation, or first time out puppy. Some a very nervous and others are very excited so always make sure the slip collar is on the right way or the harness is snug fitting, but staff are always on hand to help. Right, now you are ready.
 
 By the time you have gone a few yards you should have an impression of your dog. Have you got the one that barks madly at their joy at being out with you, or a baby that has never seen the big wide world and sits down refusing to go anywhere. The one who races towards something unspeakable to have a good role in it. The dog that thinks it’s a train and pulls madly trying to get who knows where or the sad one who walks in circles because that’s all it has known, life on a chain going round and round. Then there are the lovely walkers that trot nicely beside you. The dog walkers help to teach each dog to walk nicely. They also encourage them not to lie down but to enjoy the walk, discourage them from that awful smelly roll. They also check that they have had a wee and a poo and to reassure the dogs not to be afraid of cars bikes, noises etc that it’s all ok nothing will hurt them.
 
 That walk gives the dogs a chance for some one to one company so a few pats, strokes and a chat are all part of being a good dog walker. The dog needs to know that going for a walk is a wonderful thing to do with someone and all this can only help to prepare them for their new owners.
 
 Finally it is a hugely enjoyable way to spend time. I know this is true because I have seen the smiles from the dog walkers and I have seen plenty of wagging tails. Some people even spend part of their holiday in Spain dog walking how good is that. I think the dog walkers are doing a remarkable professional job. And you thought it was just walking a dog.
 
 While the dogs are being walked the staff are carrying out a co-ordinated operation. There is no time to waste. While the dog is out of the kennel, cage or whatever housing it has to be cleaned, bedding changed, water bowls washed and refilled. 
 
 Its fascinating to watch dogs being fetched in or out on lines waiting to go walkies or just to stretch their legs. Instructions issued to the walkers, to the bridge only for this one, long walk for this one, won’t walk past cars try to encourage please. Watch to see if he is using that back right leg etc.
  
 When all the dogs are walked one of the staff gets the unpleasant but necessary job of clearing up the poo from the roads. Not one of the favourite jobs I bet.
 
 If you would like to offer your services to walk dogs please contact the kennels on 966 710 047 , the dogs need to be walked twice a day either 9.30am – 11.30am or 3pm – 5pm – 7 days a week, but you only need to go at times that fit it with yourselves, we go on a Thursday and Sunday afternoon.
