The course itself was in pretty good condition, but as seems the norm on Spanish courses pitch marks had not been repaired and people did not rake the bunkers after use. This however detracted in no way from a great day’s golf and at a cost of €55 for two people Altorreal remains the best value for money in the region. The best round of the day was Dave Cooper with a score of 31points and wins the monthly and away day trophy. Second with 30 points was Danny Mcleod who made up for the near miss with the longest drive yet again; and third on count back Bob Clayton who does seem to play well on this course. On completion of the golf everyone went back to the Final Whistle on La Marina Urb for the presentations some liquid refreshment and a buffet. The following night was our annual dinner at Ramon’s Restaurant on La Marina Urbanisation and an excellent night it turned out to be. The food as always was excellent with good service and good humour. It was also well supported by the members and wives/partners. A raffle was held which included a golf bag, rounds of golf and many more prizes with the money raised going to the MABS cancer charity. Andy Giles won about 6 prizes, but always managed to avoid the golf club he fancied. The golf bag was won by John/Pam Morgan, which they then sold to Roger Bayliss for €25 and generously donated the money to MABS. A sum of €325 was accepted on behalf of the charity by Bob Clayton, one of our members and the area coordinator for MABS. Ramon and his staff also donated their tip to the charity. Thanks to all for supporting this very good cause.
