Very fast may I add at that. San Fulgencio – A RICH VILLAGE, WITH A POOR TOWN HALL IN MAY 2007 THE DEBT OF TOWN HALL WENT UP TO ALMOST 3.5 MILLION EUROS. IN March 2008 4 MILLION EUROS INCOME AND DEBT IN SAN FULGENCIO Year 1.999 - 333.208,017 millones de pesetas Year 2.000 - 483.642,416 millones de pesetas Year 2.001 - 735.416,538 millones de pesetas Year 2.002 - 1.581.314,408 millones de pesetas Year 2.003 - 12.020.242,00 millones de pesetas Year 2.004 - 11.839.608,175 Euros Year 2.005 - 7.624.900,00 Euros Year 2.006 - 9.305.920,00 Euros Year 2.007 - NOT YET HAVE BUDGET Year 2.008 - NOT YET HAVE BUDGET Add to this another 377 million pesetas that was donated by the estate company MASA and 69 million pesetas from another investor making 446 million pesetas (around 2 million 688 thousand Euros). Did you know that before the construction of Urbanization La Marina the annual budget allocation was between 30 - 33 million pesetas (around:180,000 Euros)? It seems that debt has become the acceptable norm for this council and the way it mismanages public funds. The debt is growing as they continue to ask for more credit from the bank! RISE IN TAXES After awarding themselves a pay rise - council members are now paid between 2,500 and 3,000 euros per month, plus another 3 extra payments, social security, travel expenses and more. Local taxes are being increased (2009) by some 20% together with car tax, building work, water, sewerage, cafes, bars, restaurants and other commercial businesses, and many others taxes. THEY ARE GOING TO BUILD SIX THOUSAND HOUSES NEAR THE QUARRY ¡ As we are only too aware, there are a large number of houses for sale in the urbanizations. AIM, PSOE and the APSFU have all agreed to the construction of another 6,000 new houses in the quarry area. We believe residents of the urbanizations have had enough! P y O believe that new house building should stop and that correct planning procedures must be adhered to and proper infrastructure and services be provided for its residents ie: a school, a crèche, a sports hall, social centre for young people, evening and weekend opening for our doctors surgery, clean parks and streets and, above all, that our money be spent on our urbanization. We have more than enough houses, what we lack is the essential services and facilities for its residents. The “Centro Comercial” next to two other big shopping centres is dirty and abandoned. The Theatre in San Fulgencio has a debt of ONE MILLON EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND EUROS, and the bill for rubbish collection was left unpaid for FOURTEEN MONTHS by May 2007. THE DUMPING OF MORE AND MORE RUBBISH IN OUR URBANIZATION AREAS Fernando Gadea, President of Progreso y Orden asked the Local Police to report the dumping of rubbish to infill land next to the quarry, in Camino del Convenio, and has been reported to the Ministry of Environment. Politicians, (including AIM) complained about the sub-standard living environment the dumping of rubbish had created, before they took their seat in the town hall. According to Local Police reports and photographic evidence, the illegal discharging of every conceivable item of rubbish continues. It should be borne in mind that this particular area is a flood plain and is both an illegal and dangerous practice - to infill and then build on such an area. To put it bluntly - this is a disaster just waiting to happen. So why is this being permitted by our local council? WHY ARE THEY TOGETHER? … IF ONLY WE KNEW The same people, responsible for the neglect and abandonment of our urbanizations, are back in control of our council. The same people who spend our money on the village, on travel and meal expenses and employing extra staff (all from the village) to work in the council. These councillors are quick to promise everything before the elections, but do nothing to improve our urbanizations. In short, they only want us for the money we provide. The PSOE (Trini) and APSFU (Mariano) found themselves in opposition after the municipal elections in May 2007. After the election results, Manuel Barrera of AIM gave his support to govern jointly with the PP and P y O and signed an official agreement. This was a great opportunity to bring about real change and progress for the benefit of everyone. As a representative of AIM - Manuel Barrera complained bitterly about the state of affairs created by the councils’ mismanagement and neglect. However, the denunciations he made against these individuals have since been withdrawn. Despite being in a position of power nothing has changed for the better. Residents of the urbanizations will not forget this betrayal. Sadly for residents he has succeeded in putting the same councillors back in government - Trini (PSOE) and Mariano (APSFU) who were removed from government through lack of public support in May 2007. The same councillors, who mismanage money, permit illegal building, deprive residents of a decent living environment, services and facilities, and are back in charge for another four years. With the support of AIM, this council will permit another 6,000 houses to be built in the quarry area and increase our taxes, while our urbanizations remain as dirty and neglected as ever. Why are so many houses for sale? Is it because nobody wants to live here? WHERE IS THE PARTIDO POPULAR PARTY? The Partido Popular has disappeared once more – just as it did after the elections 8 years ago. The PSOE (Trini) and APSFU (Mariano) and AIM (Manuel Barrera) make up the latest coalition council in San Fulgencio. The only thing they have done for the urbanizations is to encourage the construction of vast numbers of houses without consideration to proper planning, or to the cost to families who have to live in a dirty environment lacking essential services. They have another four years in power to do as they will and then they will disappear, leaving us with the mess. Only Progreso y Orden will remain here in the urbanization. We still occupy the same premises here in the urbanization that we did when we began in politics - we will not disappear. We are the only political party who continues to defend the rights of residents and offer a free help and advice service for residents. We will continue to denounce any illegal actions by our governing councillors. We know that the other parties do not want us to govern because we are a serious political party with high ideals of progress and order and want a clean urbanization, with pavements, roads and green areas in good order, a social centre for our youngsters AND WE WANT OUR MONEY SPENT ON OUR URBANIZATIONS. We are a tolerant party, but these political deceptions have gone too far, residents must know the truth. The political parties in San Fulgencio are only concerned about us at election time to gain our votes, but as always, do nothing for our urbanization. We will remember this at the next elections. WHO IS IN COMMAND IN SAN FULGENCIO? In the municipality of San Fulgencio no-one knows who is in overall command, each politician makes his or her own policies, and remains unconcerned about the problems of residents. In the last 2 months the councillors have visited exhibitions in Madrid and the UK – all at our expense. When residents need to go to the Town Hall on business they find opening hours are limited to just a few hours. Is it because all these councillors are all busy working out how to improve the services and the living environment for residents?
