There have been lots of comments on here over the years about bars having problems with the police, people living near the bars etc, so, when the Presidents Association had a meeting a few weeks ago, we invited the Mayor Carlos Ramirez, Jeff Wiszniewski and Paulino Herrero to give us an update on questions that were asked at our last meeting in October. The points raised were answered satisfactorily. 
 I then put forward my proposal for the possibility of the Town Hall passing a bye law to issue a General Entertainment Licence. This type of licence would cover ALL entertainment (instead of the ambiguity that is present today). All entertainment to cease at midnight. Noise to be kept at a reasonable level. Bars not complying would have their licence suspended for a period of time. A reasonable fee to be charged on a yearly basis. Our guests seemed to be in favour of such a licence, but they suggested that it would have to be passed by the Valencian Government. Therefore, we have come up with a letter to the Valencian Government, as follows:

 From :- The Association of Community Presidents of San Fulgencio and La Marina
 
 We, the members of the above Association who represent property owners in San Fulgencio and La Marina, are extremely concerned, that the actions of a very small minority of property owners whose complaints with regards to entertainment, have had a serious and detrimental effect on the economy of San Fulgencio and La Marina.
 
 We are seeing Bars and Restaurants closing and workers becoming unemployed. Local residents are going to other towns for entertainment and fewer tourists are coming to the area, which we need to help boost the local economy of San Fulgencio and La Marina in these very austere times.
 
 With all this in mind we would be grateful if you would give thought to our proposal to give power to the Ayuntamiento of San Fulgencio and La Marina to issue a General Entertainment Licence to Bars and Restaurants who apply.
 
 This would enable the Bars and Restaurants to organize their entertainment, but under strict rules.
 All Entertainment must be at a reasonable noise level, and, must cease at midnight.
 These rules will be strictly enforced and any premises not complying with the rules would have their licence suspended.
 
 We acknowledge the complaints made by the small minority of property owners, but in our opinion and research, this is not entirely due to the entertainment, but, the noise that occurs when customers of the Bars and Restaurants are returning home.
  
 We hope that you will consider this proposal and give it your approval, as we as owners, are very concerned watching the decline of our town and urbanisation.

 Along with this letter we have done a shorter version with spaces for 50 signatures. This will be given to all the bars. Our aim is to get as many names as possible, and then send them in to Valencia along with the main letter.
 
 I feel that we have to do something quickly, or, more businesses will go to the wall, more people will be out of work, houses will devalue, and the knock on effect will hit everyone.
 
 The Town Hall is fully behind this, so we need as much support as possible.
