Las Higueras beach at Pilar de la Horadada has extended its disabled parking bays to eleven places. Eight new spaces have been allocated in Avenida de Europa which are in addition to the three already in Las Higueras. The move has been made by the Local Police and was announced by the City Council in a statement.

Chief Inspector of the Local Police, José Antonio Hernández, said: “There was an increased demand for disabled facilities and the three spaces that we already had did not cover this need. Therefore, we decided to provide additional access to the beaches for the disabled.”

So far Police have designated eight places on Avenida de Europa, a move that has been frowned upon by residents who believe that parking is difficult enough without losing spaces.
The Coucillor for Citizen Security, Lancharro Francisco, said that the local government “will continue working on this line, in addition to closely monitoring the enforcement of the rules of parking in handicapped spaces” so that everyone, without exception can access the shores and beaches with no problems
