IS THE uRB ABOUT TO BECOME A 30KPH SPEED LIMIT AREA

ASL Member Founding Member Mitteilung #17963 Antworten geschlossen

Have noticed today lots of roads having a 30 limit painted on them.I am wondering if this is going to be the thing in La Marina Urb or just selected parts, also wondering if posts have to be placed on the roadside to make this legal.
Personally I think it will help`fill the coffers of the Council treasure chest.I have no problem with that as long as the extra cash it will bring in,is used to the better for the Area we all live in,and not the bank balances of the Council.
I find it strange that the town hall website,Jeffs Blog or the Opposition website do not contain a single word about this sudden, change in speed limit, perhaps one of these will have the balls.to give us information in advance, but there again it is more valuable to keep it quiet and then have a sudden purge, and give out as many speeding tickets as possible. If this is so I suggest they do it just after a heavy rainfall, when all the muck ends up on the road and covers the signs.

They started painting on these signs yesterday. Perhaps we should all get mobility scooters? That would muck up there scheme. Does seem strange though how they seem to refuse to keep us informed. We are after all only the ones who live here.

Hello,
Just curious, why is a speed limit a problem? Surely that makes for a safer place for both drivers & pedestrians. After all the risk of death in an RTA is greatly increased with higher speeds involved.
Why would people need to be informed prior to the council carrying out the prep work for what seems to be a good improvement. Traffic calming measures surely must be a good thing?

Patricia,no problem with prep work,no problem with speed limits.
But a few years ago contractors were putting up signs on a certain road,so that it would become a one way street, while the work was bein carried out drivers were being stopped and given fines of 60euro for driving down the wrong way, that is not prep its theft. If what the council is doing is prep work it means parts of roads being closed suddenly for these painting on roads to be done,Surely if you want more safer roads it would be common sense to advise people in advance, that road works may be being carried out on these roads and extra care must be taken..Or is that so hard for the Council to work out.

Hi Alan,
I see your point, good job your vigilant, however if drivers are not speeding they won't get a fine.
Take care

correct me if i am wrong, but i thought traffic regulations were governed by the dgt not the local council.
dgt rule carrageways in urban roads over 5metres wide and footpaths of 1.5 metres wide the speed limit is 50kms per hour, so that makes c/londres and c/moscu the main road through the urb 50kms per hr not 30 kms.
So jeff would you like to comment, as councilor for the urb.

Yes davieselz you are correct in the speed limits and also distance of kerbsides from roadway. But of course you are thinking of law of the land and law of San Fulgencio, two entirely different things,
I have just driven down the Calle de Convenio (the bottom road)Carefully I tried keeping to 30kph as the signs tell me too,One thing I can guarantee is that this speed limit will cause accidents, when cars overtake the San Fulhencio law abiders, you can almost guarantee head on collisions will occur. In certain circumstances it is safer to have a realistic speed limit, than a low one.

30 KILOMETER/HOUR LIMIT

Which bright spark is responsible for the introduction of this rediculous limit. Do these people not know that modern cars cannot be driven at such speeds in any other gear than first!
Surely the imposition of such limits might have been discussed in advance with we the electorate on this Urb?
