I think its something to do with Napoleon, in your case, I suspect the Brandy.

reindeer
You do love a wind up.
People walk on the side most convenient for them, no rules that I know of which side you walk, it is common sense that when walking on a road with no or narrow pavements ,for your own safety you should walk facing on coming traffic ,Back in your pirating days, the men would walk on the outside of women whom they were with, so that they didn't injure the woman when having to draw their sword. Other than that it seems to be recognized in Spain, that if someone is walking towards, you can go left or right, as you can almost guarantee the other person will not deviate an inch

Reindeer keeper,
My apologies, I didn't really understand the level of your education, but now I do. So.
For your information, Napoleon was a French bloke that nearly conquered Europe apart from us annoying Brits and Russians. He did insist on his army marching on the Right hand side of the road (maybe due to his arm injury).
I suspect you don't like anything from UK and just trying to wind people up.
Plus,
It comes as a shock that you know nothing about Brandy, especially getting the team ready for the 'Big Man' for his important night. Does this mean that he eats every mince pie and drinks EVERY brandy?

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-11-17 14:47:26 UTC

Please accept my apologies as I did not realise that there are rules for pedestrians. I do not drive so maybe I should make myself more aware of these laws. Does anyone on the URB give lessons? Xxx

Commented Myra Davis in La Marina 2013-11-17 16:42:13 UTC

Napoleon marched his armies on the other side of the road/countryside from his opponents as he could then distinguish his troops. That is the reason the frogs continued to drive the wrong side of the roads.
Who is this Brandy? She appears to get around a bit! Must be French!

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2013-11-17 16:52:10 UTC

If walking on the right, do not wear flip flop's, it's illegal.

Commented goonerpeter in La Marina 2013-11-17 16:53:24 UTC

Myra,
I know you are intelligent, so obviously you only have to learn one lesson, and that is to walk on the opposite side to the one reindeer keeper walks her reindeer, It isn't law but it keeps your shoes cleaner

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-11-17 17:50:21 UTC

It's amazing how this topic brings out different opinions.
Even the racist views of French citizens. Shame on you!!
And marko you think apparently it has only been one man named Napoleon. Is he responsible for all Napoleon brandy? There is a little gap in your education if you think so.
Alan it has never been necessary to draw my sword in defense of any woman on the pavement in the urbanization. When have you done that?
But for all of you who want to go to the left there is the shop Iceland. There you will enter throug the left door. So be happy.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-11-17 19:06:30 UTC

yes why making racists comments about the French? a bit below the belt regarding the topic to be honest, and yes before you ask I am French and frankly even my English husband would not stand that low, come on people get a grip and stop turning every topic into petty mocking bitching argument on this forum because you are seriously giving the English a bad name there...

Reindeer, You started this thread not knowing any Napoleon's, now you know more than one, with that, my work is done.

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-11-17 19:42:51 UTC

reindeer,
Do you actually enjoy making yourself look a pillock or does it come naturally, why not for once read a comment first before making idiotic remarks on it. My words were about the old days (i.e. ypur old pirating days)Lets face it your answer to my comment is sillier than your comment itself.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-11-17 20:13:10 UTC

Yes marko I started this thread. But it was you who started writing about Napoleon. And I suppose you meant Emperor Napoleon 1. But as you are an expert on this you just call him Napoleon. Ok it´s up you.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-11-17 20:13:16 UTC

Someone has been reading up on Wikipedia. Your original post was up for ridicule. How many people do you meet on the pavement in La Marina that you bump into that warrants a comment?

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-11-17 20:25:00 UTC

It's amazing that such an unimportant subject can engage people. With many strange comments. What if it had been an important topic to debate. You can not even think about it.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-11-17 21:12:23 UTC

Where did the racist comments come from. I never read anything racist.

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2013-11-18 09:28:15 UTC

reindeer,
Of course it was an unimportant topic.
I suppose to you it became unimportant, when you realized what a pillock you looked, , but trying the other comments were mainly on there to show you that we knew you were,
so we tried to humour you.
I would love to know which nationality you were, then perhaps I could think of a way to condone your anti British stance.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-11-18 11:49:38 UTC

Alan, anti British? What you write is nonsense!
I comment and have opinions about people who forget that they live in Spain and who forget that they are immigrants. With all that comes with it.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-11-18 12:40:52 UTC

Reindeerkeeper, does being an immigrant mean that we should be aware of the correct side of the pavement to walk on?

Commented Myra Davis in La Marina 2013-11-18 14:08:37 UTC

Alan/Myra,
Reindeer is obviously Swedish and worked for IKEA, perhaps putting down the arrows on the floor to tell you which way to walk.

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-11-18 15:49:17 UTC

My dad used to go mad about people who didn't use the pavement properly. He actually thought we should be taught in school,so this made me laugh

Commented mazza in La Marina 2013-11-18 18:35:00 UTC

And you MUST not walk/tread on the lines if wearing flip flops!!

Commented 2nd Casa in La Marina 2013-11-19 12:22:56 UTC

Rudolf is alive and well - and living in Scotland. Britain's only free-ranging reindeer, about 130 individuals, are roaming the Cairngorms. There are 80 at the Glenlivet estate (near the distillery - hence the red nose); the rest are living wild in the mountains.

Commented Bikerbee in Hondon de las Nieves 2013-11-19 17:22:33 UTC

Bikerbee, I'd be most interested to know if you noticed if the Scottish based Reindeer passed each other on the left or right.
