Hi 2nd Casa,
Yes there was a small scuffle at the end of the night between my sons girlfriend & her ex boyfriend, the situation was defused very quickly & no one was hurt in the process, the ex boyfriend was told to leave, which he did, no problem after that just a very small taint on what was an absolutly fantastic night.

Good to hear it was only a minor scuffle as you and your family + staff work hard to make everyone have a good day and evenings, but you will always get some that will taint the good times, again well done Hogs head.

Just out of curiosity "Hogs Head" Hows about giving the other bars down the steps a chance of having a fiesta,.....just a thought !! you know as well as I do that the separate areas on consum square are only allowed so many fiestas,...so why do you feel the need to book every bit of space up on the fiesta calendar. I know for a fact that some of the other bars are unhappy with the way you conduct yourself,...especially when you go round cap in hand trying to get everybody to back you for the music petition.

I quite agree with some of what you say, recently I was approached by the town hall to help organise an October fest for the bars along our street, however I was informed that only 2 bars out of 6 in total, in the whole of our street had opening licences, which is one of the mandatory requirements for hosting a mini fiesta, so I can understand why it appears to you to be one sided, the 2 bars that have opening licenses ourselves plus 1 other bar have planned a joint fiesta on the 3rd October, I do feel somewhat disappointed that there will only be 2 of us involved, but then I don’t make the rules, I hope my answer satisfies your curiosity.
Regarding the music petition, although I do support it, I have never been involved in starting it, running it or campaigning for it & I have certainly not “cap in hand” approached any other bars regarding the keep music live petition, sorry but the bars that have told you this, have mis-informed you, sorry.

Have to agree Hogs head, what we need is more facts than fiction as most of the bad gossip is fiction based which could ruin some places but some people just repeat the bad stuff and are then taken back when the facts come out, must admit I was surprised to hear only 2 bars have opening licences as some have been there or open in one name or another for a number of years and have had there own fiestas.

Thank you 2nd casa, although I also understand the other bars that currently do not have openning liciences, are still ongoing there application process, so please do continue to support them. Once they have there openning licences they will also be able to apply for mini fiesta's.
Aslo bars that want to apply for a Valencian music licence for live music events in the bar, can obtain an application form from the urb town hall, speak to Sam, complete & apply to The Prop office, 5 Placa de la Merce Elche Town Center.

Thank you hogs head for your courteous reply,.....I will never get my head round the way this council or is it the valencian government work,....only just the other week there was a fiesta on the upper section of the consum area involving 2 bars and from what I saw it went down quite well,.....but the puzzling thing that springs to my mind is that neither of the bars involved actually have their opening licence,....yes they have paid to have their provision licence,...but neither actually have the full one,
So this then makes me wonder,...how can bars on the upper section of consum area have a fiesta without having a full opening licence (please bear in mind they have paid for one,...so it is pending), but the ones on the lower level can't, although all these establishments have made the same payment for the provision licence. Something somewhere just doesn't seem right,.....not that I am knocking any establishment what so ever on the consum area,....it just strikes me as there is one rule for some and a different rule for the others.........confused.com !! and answers on a postcard please.

r_morton,
Yes I really can understand your confusion, I will try to clarify, the 2 bars upstairs have almost completed their applications for an opening licence & are just waiting for an inspection from the town hall technical department, so basically there opening licenses are imminent, however some of the other bars applications are in the infant stage & nowhere near completion, I believe the town hall make their decision to issue fiesta licenses based on the progress of the opening license application.
Hope this helps.

In the original reply from Hogs Head it was stated that once the bars have the opening licence they can then hold a mini fiesta.
Then it was stated that 2 bars, who are currently waiting for an inspection from the council in order to obtain this licence, held a mini fiesta last week
Doesn't make much sense to me.
