NEWTON TELESCOPE

Hi. Does anyone out there know about Newton type telescopes, I have a problem in that, I get a good focused image without using a right angled prism.
But with a prism attached I don't seem to be able to focus, all I get is a blur with any size eyepiece.
Can you help.
