Registration of Residency • Ian
This is the "Certificacion de Inscripcion Padronal" form. You will obtain this from your town hall (Ayuntamiento) in Valencia Province Spain. This document is a declaration of your residency in the area.
You will need this for all sorts of things and so you should complete one form for each person in your household or you may find yourself in difficulties at some time in the future. They will then never issue a certificate that is backdated.
For example: If you were applying for a Spanish Driving licence you wouldn't be given one until 6 months after the town hall stamped and signed your certificate. Unfortunately, this is Spain and you will find that at times it is very bureaucratic and a big time waster for you. Don't let it get you down!
The "Certificacion de Inscripcion Padronal" form can be obtained from your Ayuntamiento. This is where you will have changed the details of your property. The certificate has to be signed by three people so you may well be asked to return at a later time or date.
You may need to take with you one of the people who do translation services as a business. They can help you with the difficulty of the language barrier through all of this bureaucracy.
We personally managed it all ourselves without help and at that time without speaking any Spanish! It was a daunting task, but we are still here and enjoying life here! Everyone keeps telling you "This is Spain!" and at first it is rather irritating. Just go with the flow and you will soon learn to "Chill Out" like the Spanish. We are not in the UK now and we have to respect the Spanish laid back way of doing things. If you don't, you will find it difficult, if not stressful!
Finally, if you raise your voice or lose your temper with the Spanish then you will get NOTHING done!
