Rock concert

Are residents aware that the rock concert on Friday night and all day Saturday has been sanctioned to play rock music until 3 in the morning? Yes 3 am!
Residents are expected to sleep how?
It's bad enough that this has been plonked right in the middle of a residential area, but they are overriding the limit on bars playing music I.e. midnight shut-off!
From what I've just seen it looks like there will be a splendid view of the portaloos and open urinals.

La Marina

Yes well aware......and come the 1st weekend in August it will be Blasting out until early morning from the Consum for the Fiesta Weekend. ...May I suggest Ear Plugs......

Welcome to Spain

Oh Maz, surely you can cope with earplugs for one night. I think it's great that we have these concerts. It shows we're not all just lounging in God's waiting room. Think how you'd have felt in your younger days having access to a rock concert. Wow, I'd have loved it. Let people enjoy themselves and have a bit of fun. We presently have 2 grandkids here so I'm sure they'll love it. This isn't Bemidorm but our family come and spend time with so it'd great they have bit of exitement. Bring on the rock n roll xx

Could I suggest all you old moaners come back to England and rot away in a nursing home...not everyone has a villa in La Marina to live in, we have had a family villa for 25 years we come for our holidays and love the fact that La Marina is embracing the Spanish Fiesta and having music until the early hours of the morning....have u all forgot how to enjoy yourselves?????????????

Commented Wendy in La Marina 2013-07-11 20:26:55 UTC

I agree , Bring it on.

Commented Don A in La Marina 2013-07-11 20:29:54 UTC

Yep, bring it on.

Commented mazza in La Marina 2013-07-11 20:39:00 UTC

Wendy.....your comments are offensive!
Consider yourself very fortunate that you could afford a family villa for 25 years.
I wonder how many of you live on the market square.

Commented Maz in La Marina 2013-07-11 21:29:35 UTC

Is it not a double standard that our Council, Local Police, Guardia Civil and National Police harass our publicans on a daily basis concerning music and noise levels when at the same time they sanction music around the urb until 3am when it suits them.
Surely they have got things the wrong way round?
Is it not better to actually encourage our publicans to inject some life into the urb rather than paying tens of thousands to people we do not know, people who do not care a stuff about the urb or the residents who live here?

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-07-12 05:19:54 UTC

I completely agree with everything you say friendlyviking. We certainly do not wish to have to put up with head banging music until 3.00am plus loads of *bikers* on the urb.

Concentrate on our existing bars and restaurants and support them before they have to close like so many already have.

Commented QueenBee in La Marina 2013-07-12 06:28:47 UTC

Did you not go down to La Marina Village a couple of Sundays back....The Bikers Day was packed (with people spending money)....it started on the urb and paraded down to the village (Dont think there was any trouble was there ?)..........

Commented Mandy in La Marina 2013-07-12 07:01:54 UTC

Well said Mazza ........nice to hear a positive comment for a change....

Commented Mandy in La Marina 2013-07-12 07:07:47 UTC

All Thursday night setting up scaffolding, all Friday setting up, concert until 3 followed by clear out and clean up, followed by rock concert all day Saturday until 3 Sunday morning followed by clear our and clean up followed 'take everything down' on Sunday does not constitute 1 night Mazza!
I have no objection to music or rock concerts.......only the time!
Get your facts right!

Commented Maz in La Marina 2013-07-12 07:56:51 UTC

Being someone who runs a bar here, we do have loads of hassle to the result that we will no longer have live music, We have issues with the council about the fiesta that im less than happy with and ive told them. whatever the threats, and that's exactly what we got. I QUOTE "TAKE YOUR CHANCE" I will stick to my corner. However, i support the rock concert, its good for young people, its just a few nights, we can hear it at home but ill just have a beer and get my head down. Not my cup of tea but you have to do something for everyone and encourage young people to come to La Marina.

Oh, oh!
Do we not see a "Gypsy Encampment" quietly positioning itself on the waste land adjacent to Temptations Bar just in time for Rock Concerts and Fiestas?

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-07-12 08:11:44 UTC

A couple of days of rock, no problem. If I hadn't of gone to the one nighter last year,I may well of paid 10 Euros to go this year,But unfortunately I realized heavy rock is not my scene, Having just one beer tent is not my scene, having my wifes bag searched for contraband booze is not my scene, paying double price for a beer is not my scene, having to queue up to buy tokens to get a drink with is not my scene.
But hundreds of youngsters (and a few not so young) were obviously, having a great time. as were the many youngsters, outside the market square, with bbqs and tinnies on the pavement.I personally didn't stay long, but bring it on for the youngsters, let them let there hair down,By Monday it will all be forgotten, and us oldies can look forward to three days of drinking and dancing in August.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-07-12 08:23:20 UTC

Yes I am very lucky to have had a family villa in La Marina for 25 years...u too are very lucky to be able to spend your retirement years in Spain in a property you own....many many people are not so lucky....we all have to compromise in life, I personally would not have brought a property near the market square or bars etc. if I wanted a quieter life....a few days of disturbance is surely bearable a few months of us holiday makers spending our money and boosting the economy on the Urb surely is acceptable so as you can spend the rest of the time quietly enjoying where you've chosen to live.

Commented Wendy in La Marina 2013-07-12 08:36:53 UTC

I personally did not buy a property at the market square. Don't comment on the circumstances of other people you know nothing about!

Commented Maz in La Marina 2013-07-12 08:55:12 UTC

well what r u moaning about then???

Commented Wendy in La Marina 2013-07-12 09:04:02 UTC

Every year on Oasis we have a fiesta that goes on for 3 days and always until at least 6am in the morning...nobody complains and if they did I don't think anyone would do anything...it's a spanish tradition and this is Spain..

Commented Negotiator in La Marina 2013-07-12 09:35:59 UTC

Lighten up Maz, try to enjoy the rest of your life. Always remember you woke up this morning, some people didn't.
And Negotiator, thanks for letting us know about the three day Fiesta, on Oasis I have lived here for six years and never heard about it.(do the Spanish keep it from us in case we spoil it)

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-07-12 09:39:20 UTC

well said mazza

Commented Mick in La Marina 2013-07-12 09:56:51 UTC

Alan,
Forgive me but I am getting confused here, you are agreeing with everyone no matter what view they may have?
What exactly do YOU think?

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-07-12 10:00:49 UTC

Don't quite know how you think I agree with everything said, perhaps you read something That I didn't realize what I had written.
But to put it straight,I see no problem for the younger person to have to enjoy themselves,Last year I personally found the music not to my taste,i hate people trying to rip me off (as with the one beer tent, and no alcohol to be taken in)I am for the three day fiesta, because it is my kind of music, and because you can buy a drink at a realistic price or take your own,i don't like feeling ripped off.I don't want la Marina to fade into obscurity,I enjoy seeing families with young children in the play areas late at night, especially when they are a bit noisy. I enjoy enjoying myself, and watching other people do the same.
I don't enjoy being given information when it is too late to make arrangements.I don't like the Mayor forgetting to give Jeff information,I don't like it when Jeff seems to do nothing about the Council making him look an idiot.I don't like people moaning for the sake of it.I don't like personal attacks on people,by people on a hate campaign. If I read something I don't agree with I will answer with my opinion at the time,I will also change my opinion,if I believe someone has a good argument.
I do not hate anybody,I believe everybody should have an opinion, and be allowed to express it.But I also believe,I am allowed to express mine.I don't like people talking down to me,i don't like people lying to me.
Apart from that,if you tell me what comments you think I swing bothways on,I will take a look at them.Would actually be interested and would give my opinion as to why I said them

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-07-12 10:34:35 UTC

I think they do you know keep it quiet from us although one year we went along and had a great time the drinks are of course subsidised and they have fabulous live groups and we danced the night away but I think there was only about four or five english people in there but we were made very welcome by the spanish

Commented Negotiator in La Marina 2013-07-12 11:15:09 UTC
