RENEW YOUR PADRON NOW! ( From Jeffs Blog)

San Fulgencio Needs You

The services in your Community are at risk

It is very important to confirm your intention to remain on the Padron

Bring your Passport or NIE number with you to one of the Municipal Offices at Calle Madrid no.5 or 7, the Office of Tourism, the Policia Local office on the Urbanisation or at the Plaza de La Constitution No.26, San Fulgencio.

Thank you for your cooperation
WE ARE ALL SAN FULGENCIO

Why is it necessary to renew your padron? Central government is aware that many extranjeros have left Spain and have decided that if anyone has not renewed their Padron in the last two years, they will be removed from the list.
No Padron no vote. No Padron, less funding from Central Government, resulting in the degradation of Services, Policing, Education, Health Care and Wellfare. At present there are more than 4,500 persons registered in San Fulgencio, that fall into this category. If you are one of them, please come along and re-register. Now!

It is important, that we do this,It should only take a few minutes but will mean valuable services may be saved, You can be certain that Central Government will save as much money as possible, Dont let them take it from us,for just a few minutes of your time.

Have you got to live in Spain to be able to sign on the Padron.

Would it be possible for someone to let us know what the situation is regarding the councilor by the name of Jeff?

We have seen by old posts that he is not interested in using this website to inform people of the area what is going on, but that other members copy his information onto the site, which seems to be the same thing.

Is it that he just does not care about doing his job right or there is a deeper reason.

Commented Team ASL "A Spanish Life" in La Marina 2013-09-10 18:05:08 UTC

Nothing to do with you, and until you get this site under control he never will. Ban me if you like it would be a pleasure or do you think you can whip up a storm for a few more hits on your site.

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2013-09-10 21:41:56 UTC

As new admin for the site its important to understand how to improve it, that is why we thought it best to ask the members as to why Jeff, an important person in the area does not use this media tool,

The answer given is that you feel its none of our business, a silly answer as we run the site.

We have also read in some post that the forum is used to get HITS, we think what you mean is visitors they are not the same thing.

Commented Team ASL "A Spanish Life" in La Marina 2013-09-11 05:44:56 UTC

I will quickly explain, why Jeff (councilor for La Marina Urbs and Fiestas) Doesn't comment on this Forum.
Mainly it is due to the forums lack of rules. When he won a seat on the present Council, Jeff answered almost every question asked on here, unfortunately this forum allowed itself to become a sounding board for not only slagging him off, But also his Family his Staff and friends. After a while he had enough of faceless people doing this and decided to call it a day. He did state that people were welcome to visit him in his offices, or read his blog,he also said that he had no objection to his blog being copied onto this site. A thing that weejohnten has done as much as possible.
Unfortunately ASL had done nothing to eliminate the sort of comments that Jeff was subject to, Although ASL were told in comments since, that they would eventually lose regular comment makers, If they allowed the nasty personal attacks on people to continue, ASL did absolutely nothing about it, and to this day personal attacks on people appear here.
In fact just before Steve left I asked him if he was going to stop the personal attacks from continuing, his answering was a few words, clearly trying to put me down, by saying to me that he would answer questions about the site (to me it said mind your own bloody business, I run the site how I want to).
Next the new lot took over ASL. you appear to of made a rule to banish thread drift.(which you appear to done yourself on the thread you are now reading.(It started off as The Padron, and you turned it into a thread about jeff). After this a question was asked of you to give us a list of rules, again this received no answer from ASL.
I have drifted even further on this thread, than you did.
I have had my say, It is not meant to be nasty, but to help you understand, that people will only take so much before they get fed up and stop making comments

As Alan has answered for you it still remains to be seen what you intend to do about personal attacks not on others not just Jeff,I can think of at least 6 others in the last 3 months where accusation, allegations and downright slanderous remarks were made.
It was you in fact who posed the stupid question "who is this councilor called Jeff"

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2013-09-11 07:35:17 UTC

Please explain why you think its a stupid question to ask what the situation is with Jeff, at no point have we asked who he is.

Commented Team ASL "A Spanish Life" in La Marina 2013-09-11 07:40:16 UTC

As usual trying to get hits on the site. Look if you don't now who Jeff is or simply cant be bothered to find out then please don't respond again all I did was put a piece of useful/vital information on this site and here we drifting the thread to get hits. As a matter of interest are you moderating from Costa Blanca or Uk?

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2013-09-11 08:12:12 UTC

Are we not trying to find out information about Jeff by asking the question, is that not what a forum is for.

You have stated many times that we are trying to get HITS on the forum by posting on it, would you please explain how you think this works.

ASL does not just cover La Marina in fact it has over 180 areas of Spain, do you know who the councilors are for each area? Or would you need to ask to find out?

Please could you explain your attitude as we are all very surprised as to how you conduct yourself.

Commented Team ASL "A Spanish Life" in La Marina 2013-09-11 08:40:33 UTC

Yes ASL you have 180 other sub - forums, but which ones the most popular. ,Looking at your "see posts from all areas",your main Forum is definitely La Marina, followed by Quesada. Almost all your posts in ""other posts are from these two forums,Steve had a place in U.K. and Quesada,a place quite near La Marina, So he at least had a chance of knowing what goes on around him. Please take this as a positive post,It may help you when commenting on remarks made by people from this area, and may stop the little bickering that appears to be cropping up.
I am always prepared to enter a useful dialogue with you or anybody else (How do you learn otherwise)
.
Perhaps you could start, by separating, this thread from the one it started as,(The Padron) as the Padron is and will always be more important to us than your Forum. That way at least weejohnten may not of taken such an exception to your comments.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-09-11 08:52:29 UTC

Well there is only one Briton named Jeff! Simple! Everyone knows that!

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-09-11 09:48:50 UTC

I don't think you should call ASL 'simple' Reindeer Keeper, maybe 'under achievers' as I'm sure looking back on historical posts would have clearly highlighted who Jeff the Councillor was.

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-09-11 12:50:06 UTC

You do not have to look far back to find out that we have never asked who Jeff is but what is the situation with him not wanting to post on the forum.
It seems that people world do better to read what is said first.
We now have a far better idea as to his and others attitudes in La Marina

Commented Team ASL "A Spanish Life" in La Marina 2013-09-11 12:59:59 UTC

If you'd look back further, the former forum admin published his personal email address which in my opinion was the wrong thing to do and perhaps that's why he doesn't contribute.

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-09-11 14:31:00 UTC

marco, you are correct Steve did give Jeffs private e-mail address out. This caused Jeff to change his e-mail address and had the hassle of telling everybody who had access to it what his new address was.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-09-11 15:27:39 UTC

marko,
I never meant to call ASL simple in that sense. Simple was maybe not the correct word. I meant it was easy for everyone since Jeff is the only one with that name in Spain. Sorry if you didn't understand me.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-09-11 16:24:08 UTC

ASL,
If you do not know who Jeff is then you are obviously totally detached from La Marina and "events" therein, are you not?
When I first came into this site we had local administrators called Ian and Carol and everything seemed to go well as they knew who was who and what was going on around here.
Would it not be a good suggestion to go back to such an administration team?

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-09-12 06:42:03 UTC

We have not asked WHO JEFF IS but why he does not post on this site, this has been answered.
Please read what people post and not invent things

ASL, you have my full support

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-09-12 08:00:20 UTC

ASL,I gather you are going to allow this thread drift to carry on. which is a shame because the main topic "Padron" will now be lost in among the petty chat. The people of La Marina Urb need to know about renewing their Padron, to make sure we don't lose too much Central Government money, thereby losing some of our health and safety benefits, Which I consider to be far more important than is appearing on the drift

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-09-12 08:15:58 UTC

So what you are saying Alan is that no one should add to this post! But you keep adding to it!

Commented Team ASL "A Spanish Life" in La Marina 2013-09-12 08:35:52 UTC

ASL
Now who is not reading comments properly.
I have never said don't add any more comments on this thread or anything like it.
Perhaps my brain is on a different wavelength to yours, but what I meant it to read ,was for you to separate the comment started by weejohnten about the padron, and finishing with the comment by ·"wish I was there". .Then move your comment about why jeff doesn't write on this forum, and all comments about that subject to a different thread. If it cannot be done, just a simple "not able to do" would suffice, I know other Forums do this with success normally by adding an overrider saying it has split the comments into two threads owing to thread drift. .Silly comments about my answering your queries, personally I don't think is the way to go.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-09-12 11:07:02 UTC

ASL, your not getting off to the best of starts by arguing with regular contributors. Alans request seemed perfectly reasonable to me . He feels that signing onto the Padron is an important topic and should not be diluted by yet another diatribe against Jeff

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-09-12 11:23:58 UTC

As for ASL having comments re Jeff i attended a function in the Costa Blanca Hotel we all had a great but while there i had heard that the Boss was a Hypnotist Magician i made contact with one of the members of staff to see if he was available to do a private dinner function & was told by the staff hes very good so i left my number & was told he was in on Monday & would contact me but Monday came & went Tuesday came & went so on wednesday when i had still not heard i sent an email to his office explaing what was required & asked if he was available on that date & time & if so what were his charges he must also be a vanishing act as up to date i have had no phone call or email reply so i have booked another Magician & needless to say will never have any faith in the Costa Blanca Hotel again.

Alan can you tell me if you have to live in Spain to sign up to the padron . I come over every month and have a place but don't live here yet
thanks

Commented Mick in La Marina 2013-09-13 12:28:52 UTC

Hi Mick.
I wish I had a straight forward answer, but we are talking about Spain, where you can ask six people a question and get six different answers.
The best I can suggest is that if you have a Padron already, that is over two years old get it renewed. If you don't have a Padron but live in Spain, apply in your Local Area for one.
If possible the Council you apply to will give you a Padron as it is in their interest to do so. If you have a Padron but have moved from one area in Spain to another, you may need a new Padron stating your new address,if you don't do this, the area you previously lived in, may be getting, cash from Central Government, that your new area should be getting.
If you do renew your Padron or apply for one also tell the clerk that you wish to go on voting register,If every Brit. that lived in La Marina voted once every four years, The Brits could have more votes than even the Spanish in this area do, which could well mean eventually that San Fulgencio will have to share the wealth that is spent in that Town with us in the Urbs.
I will try to find out within a few days what the rules are today, but I don't expect to get a straight answer, If I do I will put it on this forum

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-09-13 13:50:55 UTC

Alan, you have brought up a very good point about people renewing their padron, and their right to vote. These are two seperate things. When renewing your Padron, or if you are registering on the padron for the first time, tell the clerk you want to go on the "Registro de Electoral", if not, you will not be able to vote in the local elections in 2015. This is the only way that the urbanisations can achieve more representation on the council.

Commented Mick in La Marina 2013-09-13 15:45:06 UTC

I have tried to update my PADRON on four separate occasions now!
My partner died in 2011 at which time I was in the Satellite Town Hall in La Marina and reported the matter. We need paperwork they said!
So in the fullness of time I presented an autopsy/post mortem report which they turned down, this was no evidence of a death! Clearly the town hall personnel know "living people" who have undergone autopsy/post mortem. Clearly this did not satisfy there requirements.
When I re-married I was again in the satellite town hall to register my new partner so that a SIP card could be issued. Once again I pointed out that my previous partner was dead and that my pardon was not correct. Only a death certificate would confirm a death, so even though these do not exist in Scandinavia the certifying doctor sent to me a "specially prepared death certificate" confirming my partners death in October 2011.
Earlier this week I again attended the satellite town hall armed with the death certificate. At the time Jeff, our councillor, was there on another matter when both he and I were informed that the death certificate was unacceptable because it was in Swedish, remarkable when you think that my partner came from that country!
The result was that Jeff beat a hasty retreat to his offices without any comment whatsoever, the death certificate was left with the town hall staff even though they cannot use it because of translation difficulties and I after four attempts to correct the pardon left the town hall for the last time on this matter.
Now I have an attitude of STICK YOUR PADRON!

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-09-16 19:00:37 UTC

I don't think you have to live here full time to go on the pardon.

Commented rose in La Marina 2013-09-16 20:40:52 UTC

Rose,
I think you are right, for instance my brother has a house here although he lives permanently elsewhere, however, to purchase his house and his new car he needed to get a copy of his pardon!
So if I understand the situation correctly anyone, resident or non resident, who has property needs to renew their pardon regularly. How those who choose to rent might be a grey area, I do not know?
