Harry's Bar in Quesada - what a shame

We booked to go to Harry's Bar last night as it was our friends birthday and we found out that the B-Boppers were going to be on - really pleased.

We had also heard that Harry's Bar had been taken over by new owners so wanted to offer our support.

We arrived just before 8pm, to an almost empty room, but the lovely waitress came and took our drinks order, then came back for a food order and the food was scrummy.

But, by 8.45 there was no sign of the group, so one of our friends went to ask where they were and he was told that they had rang at 8pm to cancel!!!

Later, when our waitress came back to the table we asked what was happening and she told us that Lee (the drummer) had come in earlier to set-up, but then went again and she didn't know why ......

So, we left after our meal and went to another venue back in La Marina listening to a great female singer, in the break we were talking to people about what had happened and the singers partner overheard us talking and came over to say, the B-Boppers did not cancel, Lee went to set-up and they didn't want to pay them what they normally did ........ they wanted to give them a reduced rate, what a shame.

That is such a shame Harry's bar was a good venue. In my opinion the B Boppers did the right thing, It's bad form to agree a price then wait until members of the groups are setting up and then try to negotiate a discount.
The sad thing is the new owners and lied to people who supporting the bar.
The B Boppers have lost a nights pay. Lets hope that It's just inexperience of the new bar owners

I was one of those that went to see the B Boppers last night. Only to find out later in the evening after eating, that these new owners had pulled a fast one on them and tried to cut there pay, only once they had turned up to perform. That is rather a low trick to pull. I would suggest that these new owners stop trying to put on acts in the future, if they don't know how to get a big enough crowd in to finance the evening. For instance why did they not advertise the event up here on this forum,it is free to do so.

I was there as well - it was my Birthday and I'd been looking for somewhere different for the evening and when I phoned Harry's Bar about 2 weeks before and asked who was on I was over the moon that B. Boppers were entertaining - one of our favourite groups, so decided as it was a special occasion to go over to Quesada for the evening.

The food at Harry's Bar was absolutely delicious though, and we did have a lovely chat with our friends, but the waitress should have told us when we arrived that B. Boppers would not be appearing, as it was obvious as I had pre-booked the table that we had come to see B. Boppers. What a disappointment. We will not be rushing back there again - they could do this to any artist that they book - Drop the agreed price that they were going to pay - absolute disgrace.

We still had a fab night though ending up at Hillside with Dee singing - what a lovely lady. Will go and see her again. Thank's Dee xx

Just out of interest is anyone aware of any future venues where the B Boppers are appearing at. I find it strange that none of these acts ever bother to list where they are appearing at up here on the Events section. Its a bit like the secret society. Its only after they have been somewhere that the publicity kicks in. Would of thought that Acts could see the sense of telling the public where and when? they are appearing? Should not just be down to the often hard working Bar Owners?

Lee adds it to his weekly list on fb

Thanks for that Rose. But that is OK for those on Facebook. Many people are not on it. Plus I would of thought far more people would see where they are, in particular holiday makers or owners only here for a couple of weeks. if it was put up here on the Whats on Events section.
I think it is FREE

Here are a few of The B Boppers videos. First one is the longest but it features a song from all three in the Band http://youtu.be/rtq0fTwJmrw
Second is from Izzy a really lovely voice and I do believe she is also features in a couple of other bands out here. Izzy is singing one fine day. http://youtu.be/0tt9KCZless
Last but not least one of the top drummers here on The Costa Blanca LEE He is featured here on this Video Playing WIPE OUT http://youtu.be/SAnvaUqLXOA
I gather that they will not be going back to Harry's I wonder why?

So does this group The B Bops not ever appear up here on la marina? Would be nice to see another group like them. After most of us up here were born in the rock and roll area. Thought the videos were good. As for the stunt that bar pulled I hope other singers boycott them plus of course the normal public.Best I have so far seen up here was Woody and the Peckers.
