street lights

Irene,I have done a bit of checking,and it seems that on the 10 Oct,paperwork was signed for 50% of street lighting to be turned off as a cost saving,due to the large hole in San Fulgencio accounts.
I am unaware if this has already started as I have noticed no difference as yet.I believe it will be alternate,presumably meaning different streets on different nights.
I am sure Jeff will enlighten us all,when he reads this forum on Monday

Here on El Oasis I believe this has already happened, there are certainly a lot of lights out. But as we have such bad roads leading from the urb it's probably been done so we can't see the state of them

Good morning all. Yes I can confirm that arrangements are in place to have alternate areas "switched off" in order to save some money. The plan is to switch the areas so that not one area is without lights for days on end. As far as I know the times are supposed to be late in the evening until day break.

Jeff,I fully understand the thinking behind this and i am mainly in favour,but certain areas could become a muggers paradise,and some crossroads could be deemed dangerous without lights.If possible could these areas be noted and their lights left on each evening.I understand that this may not be cost effective and may negate any savings made,but just wondering if it will be looked into

quite funny really as the lights on Calle Madrid were on from 1.30pm today!! That wont save us any money
Hopefully the lights on Calle San Fulgencio ( the forset road) wont be switch off as I know they have been in the past. Its none to pleasent walking down there in the dark.

Further to the item about street lights being switched off. I am informed that the lights which will be switched off will be every alternate light. This is similar to the cost cutting excercise adopted by the Town Hall in Pilar de La Horadada as highlighted in this weeks Coastrider Newspaper,.
