Linda we are looking for a good plumber who knows something about the sewerage systems in Spain so we can have something done about the inspection chamber in our garage.

What's wrong with the manhole cover in you garage.

We have to put up with the smells from other people sewerage coming into it. Our own does not go into there, it goes straight to the main sewerage. Last year we spent over 300 euros for the sewerage to be unblocked as the tree roots had grown into the main pipe and blocked back into our garage. The council said it was not their problem as the Parque was private but as we have not got a community nobody wanted to know. Because the pipes do not go right down to the bottom of the inspection chamber nasties collect in there and cause a problem. We have to put the hose pipe in there on a daily basis and I am forever putting bleach etc down my shower to keep it smelling fresh. What we need is for someone to give us some advice as to what can be done about it. Any help would be appreciated.

Depending how your garage is situated and how the floor is in the garage all you need to do is ring a drainage company and talk to them about having a breather/air vent stuck in your drain. All that will need is 2inch or 4imch pipe installed that may mean abit of digging and running a pipe up the wall and through your garage roof. People often wonder why Spain's sewers smell. They have no concept of drains out here, the main thing is they do not have air vents for the smell to go anywhere. That big black 4 inch pipe you could always see sticking out of your roof back in the UK is the breather/air vent that takes the smell away. They do no have them here.

There is only one problem with that Andi our Lounge is overtop the Garage, so, would it have the same effect if we put the breather pipe against the garage wall and runit up to roof height?

There is a good ironmonger in San Fulgencio village, he is a local man called Gaspar.His mother runs the local todo shop and his workshop is now in the new units on the road CV859 from San Fulgencio village to Guardamar and he doesnt charge a fortune ,We have had a lot of work done by him and always been pleased with it

Gaspars tel no is 96 679 4485, I havent used him since hemoved to his new premises a few metres along the road but I assume he would have kept the same number.He only speaks Spanish but I managed very well to explain what we wanted without much Spanish
