HELLO LA MARINA

My wife and I visited La Marina for the first time last year and fell in love with the place, we have come back twice this year and are now looking at investing in a villa. After reading the forum (which I would like to say is very good) we are getting concerned by the attitude of some of the people and their desire not to "live and let live" is this normal in Spain or just in La Marina? Is it just a few people in the area or is this what most of you think.

Also I would like to ask why people post on the forum its then read by the local council who seem to be doing a great job in getting things done, they then answer on some blog site, and then a forum member has to copy it over to this site. Is this just the way things have to be done? I am sure I will get attacked for my comment but why do they not just post on here themselves?

Michael & Dawn

It's only a percentage of people in la marina who moan about bars and noise. What people forget is this is Spain not the UK. We abide and follow the Spanish way of life not come here and implement our way of how we were brought up in the UK.
I remember moving to torreviecja back in 1997 it was nice and quiet, now look at the place it's full with bars markets and it's always busy.
As for the councillor, he did post on the for and reply to almost everything that was thrown at him.
Overtime people were just being stupid and attacking every comment he left. Jeff now uses his blog to answer anything that's directed to the council or himself over the Internet.
I'd like to point out that no matter what has been said towards Jeff and the team he has, they have a office on this Urb that makes everyone's life so much easier who live on the Urb. His interacting with members of the public, not driving around with security like past councillors.
I think it's time people started to realise he is actually doing good on his promises. A few bumps at first but his coming good. Let's not forget they still have over 3 years left.

Thank you Andi for your reply it gives us a lot to think about. May I ask so you think that La Marina is going the same way as Torrevieja maybe in a smaller way?
There seems to be a lot of new places opening that are for the tourist and not people living their full time. I would hate to move to an area that just develops into one large night club in the summer and a goast town in the winter.

This place will never be like torreviecja, it doesn't have the space they have built houses every where you could stick one in la marina. You say ghost town, most people won't deny come November December time through to middle of march it is like a ghost town. It's hard to balance as In some respect it is a tourist place but in the other people live here all year round.

Hi Michael and Dawn
I think Andi has said, what I would of said.except the moaners and groaners, only ever write about one thing and that is their personnel dislike of sometimes hearing some noise from bars and restaurants, from the names that appear on the comments,I think the actual amount would be about half a dozen at most,if you look through past comments you can point them out,as their names only appear, when they make complaints about noise, and normally only in one area of La Marina, they dont seem to have anything else to say about what else is happening. So really dont let them put you off from buying here.
La Marina have many genuine, nice people, who have time to talk, help, enjoyand laugh with you.
Spain is going through a rough time at the moment, but when it sorts itself out,it will be a great place to live and La Marina will be one of the best places in Spain to be.

Hi Michael n Dawn,
Take no notice of the handfull of people who like to complain about everything. We bought a house here 7 years ago and have lived here full time for the last 3 years and we love it here. Whether you want a quiet bar for a drink or you want to be entertained, the choice is yours and there is a great variety of places to eat out along with most of the shops and facilities you will ever need. We also are surrounded by beautiful countryside full of colourful wild flowers and wildlife only 5 mins walk off the urb. I cannot think of anywhere I would prefer to live than here and I extremely well travelled. Listen to the positive people and ignore the moaners.

Hi Michael and Dawn
please dont let the negative comments get you down and remember misery loves company thats why the moaners are not lone speakers.

That said I am based on Quesada not La Marina but you do get moany cliques wherever you happen to be in the world regardless of what theyre moaning about.

I do accept that some complaints are valid but most of the complaints are just repetition or "die hards" dragging out a thread.

Lifes what you make it and La Marina might not be everybodys cup of tea but having said that buckingham is not everybodys cup of tea either so there you go, you cant please all of the people all of the time

Good Luck and stay true to your own feelings

Debra

Hi Michael & Dawn,

We moved here in October last year, and love it. It is quieter in the winter months, but you know, that's ok....it certainly isn't a ghost town ! Do you REALLY wanna stay in the cold, wet, miserable UK ?
