Having just read jeffs blog,i am a bit dubious about a couple of statements,Mainly all shops have to have a license,and that it is only fair that a greengrocer pays less than a bar with music.That is roughly what jeffs blog reads to me.But the amount being bandied about today was 1000 euros to get the tenants name on the license,I cannot see why to get your name on a licence,should cost any more regardless of what shop you are the owner/tenant of.But if it includes a music license it is a different story.
Secondly Jeff doubts the validity of La Marina Village license cost ing 25 euros,Jeff I dont profess to wanting your job,but surely you should of checked with Elche tomorrow to find out the cost of a bar license(just to get the tenants name on a piece of paper)And if the amount was correct to immediately contact your co-councillors to find out why your council charges so much more and then help those being overcharged to get an immediate reduction.If you find out that Elche charge s are roughly in line with san Fulgencio charges,then you can say i know what the charges in la Marina Village are and i have done my homework before opening my mouth

forgive me but why are we reliant on ONE COUNCILOR ie Jeff
Can we not persue the others as well or is it just conveinient that he stays on the urb? I thought there were approx 20 so why are we dependant on one councilors blog. Is it not time we persued the others with the same vigour?

You have a point,
We do have other Councillors in fact we have eight as well as Jeff,each Councillor has a part in running San Fulgencio,Jeffs position is I believe
Councillor for thr Urbs and Fiestas.
Therefore it makes sense to me that if you have a problem your first point of call would be Jeff,explain your problem and see if he can help,if your problem is outside of his remit,he would be able to point you in the right direction,or speak to the right Councillor for you.He has his own office and some very helpful staff in Calle madrid,the office is open every morming and you dont have to get an appointment,The mayor attends this office two mornings a week.
I personally I have been to see Jeff a few times at his office and have got answers to my questions,Unfortunately one answer Jeff gave me I knew to not be correct.On putting his answer into this Forum,he retaliated and called my comment a blatant lie,that was a long time ago. since then I have seen jeff on non-political things,But cannot forget he called me a liar,Unfortunately i realised that as it was a one on one conversation,it was a he said he said position,so i left it,today is the first time I have mentioned it since
That is the reason i always speak through the forum to Jeff so any answers he wants to give via his blog will be for anyone to see.
I hope this answers your query.
I will add on many times I have agreed with Jeff,and if necessary have backed him,I hope he stays a Councillor,he is approachable and helpful

So it would seem that the Councillors are trying to sort things. BUT what has not been answered is why this huge difference in price that bar owners are being charged for licences ie 1,000 on Urb 25,00 in the Village.
But of much more importance to us that live here, plus visitors are we being forced? to only be able to have an evening out inside in air con rooms in the Summer Months?
As for a bar association that is so obvious that am amazed that they do not have one. Problem often over here is that many bar owners were not in the licensed trade back in the UK, if they had of been they would of known of the importance of being a member of the LVA which in the UK always proved a must.

I just heard a announcement that any business wishing to open a shop/store that is under 300 sqaure metres will NOT have to apply for a licence to open. I wonder if and when this will come into effect.

Read about this a couple of days ago,it apparently will come into force very soon.It apparently is an idea from the gGovernment to get people into work,Unfortunately I cannot find the actual wording on the site i found it,but if i remember,the piece I read named certain types of businesses,if that was just a selection I dont know,but I do know that Bars and restaurants were not in the list i read,but anything rather than the silly idea of having to buy licenses for opening any business,has to be a good thing.

I have mentioned about the license cost in a comment I wrote earlier Hopefully jeff will see this and get back to us Via his blog.

Noted and appreciated though I do get marginally annoyed when people post on here when a visit to the office would suffice. That way you get it from the horses mouth as they say and not tittle tattle.
