Denouncias by bar owners

Jeff I really am sorry to put another question to you,via the SL Forum, but sometimes things seem a bit amiss.I put these questions to you purely because you are my local councillor, and hopefully you can ask whoever is necessary to find an answer,as yet you have done this in a great manner.
On your blog from the 27th May,regarding the problems with bars, you mentioned that valencia had received over 70 complaints, regarding noise,I am guessing that most of these complaints are regarding Consume2 area.
You say that many of these complaints come from owners of unlicensed bars and are aimed at owners of licensed bars.I find this sort of strange,if anything like this was going on,I would of thought it would be the licensed bars complaining about the unlicensed bars,I may be wrong,But for it to be, as stated on your blog, surely these unlicensed bar owners, would have enough of a brain to realise they would be virtually putting a death sentence on their bar.Where as if i was an owner of a licensed bar I would be livid to know that some owners were illegal and were getting the same benefits for nothing as i was paying a fortune for.For my own sanity i really hope neither of these things are going on.
I have said before I have little knowledge of Spanish Law,but you also state the police are duty bound to act on any complaint received. This surely brings another point,If the bars were complaining and the police were acting,I gather the police dont often find anything to report, other than to tell either party to grow up and behave.Further to this i believe if a complaint is made to the police surely it is just one or two bar owners making the complaints,Surely the police are not expected to waste time sorting out the petty jealousy.and tell the complainent that as nothing much is ever found regarding the noise that the complainent is wasting police time, surely Spain has such a law.
I obviously dont expect you to name names, but the council must surely know who is involved.
My other thought is that perhaps the many bar owners complaining is really only a few if any,

La Marina

Would it be possible to use the correct wording in these blogs." I would of thought "
Should surely be "I would have thought ".
Sorry to be pedantic but it really bugs me for all the incorrect spellings.
Yours Sincerely.

Sorry Peter,I obviously bugged you.But you are correct in using the correct wording, but in my defence,It was poor terminology, but the main thing was that you understood what I meant.
I must add that what I wrote was a comment on Jeffs blog,I hope people dont think it was Jeff who wrote the offending words. It was written by me

Commented Alan in La Marina 2012-05-29 17:07:52 UTC

No problem Alan and thanks for responding but don't think I am getting at you. The same applies to 'their' and 'there'. I just hate incorrect usage and I think I should have a word with my 'amigo' Andi!
Hi to Andi!!! Excuse the extra !!!s
I know it's not correct but this is poetic license.

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2012-05-29 17:14:55 UTC

Yes Peter the their and there get me to every time i have to write one of them, I have to think "is it belonging to them or is it over their,I guarantee I work out which is correct, but my fingers and brain are not connected,so which ever one I write comes from the fingers if it is wrong or from the brain if it is correct

Peter

I'm trying to keep up the slang-gauge of the 30s plus. We're got all decades on this forum. 40s 50s 60s 70s 80s not sure if there's anyone in there 90s yet.

Commented Andi in La Marina 2012-05-29 17:28:25 UTC

It's even worse when one is trying to learn Spanish and you don't know the definite from the indefinite article.
All of us, including those of us who are nearly 'pensionista' age, struggle at times and using the 'smart phones' with their small keypads must cause trouble especially for Andi!

WHOOPS sorry again Andi my friend!!

I hope this is taking away a little of the bad stuff being posted on here?

!

Hi Andi----- I'm of the 30s plus age group!

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2012-05-29 17:31:39 UTC

Peter.

You know how hard it is to use the iphone4s. I think they need to re-name them sh££ phones. Not smartphone

Commented Andi in La Marina 2012-05-29 17:39:25 UTC

Peter you have given me all the excuse I need in future,I am a Pensionista,So perhaps I am entitled to the odd Faux Pas (hope I spelt that right). As for the definite article I only remember one and that is 'the' or is it the other way round.
It is great to have a bit of a laugh on this forum, although we have ruined my serious comment at the start of it

Commented Alan in La Marina 2012-05-29 17:42:34 UTC

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Sorry for that Alan and Andi.
How about that then - Spanish, French and Latin all in one posting.
I can't afford a smart phone and wouldn't know how to use one but no doubt you'll help me!
We need to have a little more light hearted discussions on here.

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2012-05-29 17:59:51 UTC

Surely Peter not your big mistake,I did have two years of learning the great dead latin 54 years ago,so I could be mistaken

Commented Alan in La Marina 2012-05-29 18:14:08 UTC

Does it reely mater if the od misake is made we arnt all well educated and I wouldnt like your coments to put peeple of righting on this foorum. As long as you get your point across I think that is the main thing so if your spelling is not the best dont let that put you off.

Commented Trevor Wheatley in La Marina 2012-05-29 21:11:26 UTC

Hi Alan, I know the feeling but it has only been 53 years for me but I only did about 12 months of all three languages. Wish I'd have done more but then the emphasis was on French and German but no Spanish.

In reply to Trevor, yes it does matter. I mean look at the first line you wrote.
Anyone would think you came from Lancashire or even Manchester (The cleanest city in England - it gets washed every night).

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2012-05-30 08:49:59 UTC

Hi Peter, the point I am trying to make is some people dont write very often and it is easy to make mistakes I am not bad at spelling but certain words do catch me out and I would not want any person put off writing on this forum because their spelling was suspect.

Commented Trevor Wheatley in La Marina 2012-05-30 14:18:57 UTC

Peter,
I'm assuming that you have removed the punctuation from your post for effect. Being taught in the two schools that 'Waterloo Road' was originally filmed, near Manchester, I'd like to point out that we are not all thick up north.
We should always encourage more members to write and not get shot down by being picky.
PS
Manchester is clean and it does rain a bit.

Commented Select Air in Quesada 2012-05-30 20:23:24 UTC

Having been born in Rochdale and lived 'up there' for most of my life I assure you that I realise us 'Northerners' are not that thick.
If you can write correctly then do so but using 'of' instead of 'have' is a bit ridiculous or maybe just plain lazy.
I also know Trevor and know that he's from Manchester and also supports City as do I.

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2012-05-31 07:55:08 UTC

Anyone who is a City supporter, must be a nice fellow,I have met a few City supporters since i moved over here, and all of them are really nice people,Also they dont have a pop at my team.

Did you only say that because I said I'd vote for you?

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2012-05-31 09:37:25 UTC

Who me?
Already complaining about me,and I am not even on the Council yet. (ha ha)

Commented Alan in La Marina 2012-05-31 09:45:03 UTC

Apologies for commenting on a rather serious thread with a personal matter but we noticed Mr Peter Horsfield heralds from cold and misty Rochdale - as do we! We have a house in La Marina and are very much hoping to move there to live within the next 5 years, although we are stuck working & saving like mad here at the moment. May we ask Mr Horsfield, how long you've been out there in lovely La Marina and if you miss the merits of our rain-sodden Rochdale at all? :-)

Commented Andrea&Kev in La Marina 2012-05-31 19:47:27 UTC

Andrea&Kev,
I also come from Rochdale and have lived in Quesada (near La Marina) since 2004. The general area is delightful and again you cant argue about the weather compared to Rochdale.
I don't know your circumstances but I've found the local health care system is far superior to Rochdales (to my dismay).
Although I love living and working in Spain, I do miss the genuine friendliness thats within Rochdale. I just wish there would be some better stories coming out of it.

Commented Select Air in Quesada 2012-05-31 20:37:51 UTC

What more can I say that hasn't just been said! Don't think about coming here - just get here. I've been here for 9 years now and love every minute. Ignore what a lot of people on here say as 99% of the time there is no aggravation with anything. The biggest problem is finding time to do things. You'll never be bored!
I will be 'nearly properly retired' soon with a pension and will be able to afford it then. It's still cheaper than living in Blighty.
