Power Cuts & SKY TV..........

Carol. I just tried my Sky and it's working. If you have a red light on the box try pressing the Sky button on the remote. It worked for me.

Thank's but we have done that and it hasn't worked.

We are still without a working TV.
Does anybody know a person that can come and sort out our SKY TV please?

Hi Carol. Try this: Unplug your Sky box, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Press "Services" then key in 401 and press "Select". On the screen that appears, click on "Default Transponder" then press the red button your remote. Scroll down to "Save settings" and press "Select". Press "Backup" until you get back to normal area. Worth a try! Geoff.

Hi Carol found this on another forum might be worth printing of just in case.

Unplug box from the mains supply leave for for a few seconds.
Plug the box back into the mains
Turn the box on with the remote - until the box shows a green light, not a red one. Can take a few seconds to respond when booting up after re plugging into mains.
Press the Services Button.
Key in quicky 4, 0, 1 and Select. This should give you the installers menu.
Note for Sky + HD or Sky HD boxes, press 0, 0, 1 then select.
Press 2 - Default Transponder option. IN HD boxes you should see option 'Tx Ponder'.
Select the Frequency (GHz) box line and type in 12207 (the default is 11778). Please note that sometimes the 11778 will function, though this does vary between locations. You can try either.
Scroll down and select Polarization. This should show V. (There are only two choices, V and H; if necessary, change by pressing the right key (to the right of Select) on your remote.
Scroll down to Save New Settings and press Select. This will return you to the Installers Menu.
Press Back Up Three Times. Your screen should now display 'searching for listings'.
Wait a couple of minutes for channel 998 to "come in". The process is now complete, and you should be able to select the channel of your choice. You can also try to key in a channel try 517
on an HD box or 501 on a non HD older model - this is Sky News, this does not always work as sometimes the receivers will freeze up, in which case after waiting a few minutes, unplug from mains then allow a couple of minutes & plug in again (cold reboot).
If you have periodic power cuts and wish to continue to use your Sky box then we recommend the use of a UPS (uninterrupted power suppply) which will keep power to the receiver during the powecut - stopping the box defaulting to its UK / Eire settings. Alternatively a non Sky free to air receiver designed to work world wide, will avoid this issue as they do not need a epg datastream to lock onto, as does the Sky box / system.

Thank you all for your advise. We have now managed to only get some of the normal channels back. BUT we are unable to play anything on the video Nor can we video any programmes. A sign keeps coming up There is a problem with your viewing card. Ensure your Sky viewing card is correctly inserted. We know that it is and that it is the correct card as we have always used it. Any more help would be appreciated. Thank's.

WELL. We are finally back up and running with all sky channels etc. Ian had to phone the SKY company in England who have managed to sort out one of our systems.

We now need to know please what or if anybody else is using any type of equipment to help combat all these power cuts that we keep getting. Any tips would be very helpful please

Well Carol apparently you didnt read all my post You need a UPS (uninterupted power supply) this keeps your sky box powered up even through the power cuts and this keeps all your settings.

Where can you buy one of these *UPS* from then David and can you tell me how much one costs? Thanks

You can buy them from any computer shop you should be using one for your computers aswell.
I dont know the exact price but I reckon they will be about €40
