Well, Correos certainly excelled them selves this year, in eight working days before Christmas I did not receive one single piece of mail.Had people asking if I had received packages , letters etc but nothing.Would be interesting to see their sorting office. With so many unemployed why on earth dont they take on extra staff at this time of year

Hazel,
We got our post regularly, however, our postman on his scooter spread his Christmas cheer by kicking my 5kg dog on Friday.
Fortunately my dog was only bruised, nothing broken!

I'm still waiting for my birthday card off my mother to be delivered,...should have been here by the 18th at the latest, she had posted a week in advance,...isn't it funny how all the bills and junk mail still gets delivered,...but things you want get put on hold...lol

WEll one more day and still no mail, something wrong somewhere.Should take a leaf out of Amazons book, last year much to my surprise they delivered a parcel at 10pm Christmas Eve when I showed my amazement he just shrugged his shoulders , smiled and said" es Navidad".
Going to post office tomorrow to find out whats wrong, wont hold my breath for an answer though

Why should the problem be in Spain? We have sent and recieved items from Belgium and France. I don´t remember the UK system being that great at Christmas.

I am still waiting for a parcel posted in England on the 10th, plus cards posted on the 14th. Electric meter was read today Boxing Day bet I get the bill before my Christmas post though.

After seventeen Christmas"s in Spain and once seeing the sorting office in Rojales when someone left the door open I have a feeling it is Spain !!

Everybody is quick to blame the postoffice or post man for delays, I was a postman for nearly 25 years and always got the blame for mail not arriving, nobody thinks of planes being delayed from bad weather , ships not able to get out of Docks because of bad weather, Drunken Idiots who set fire to mail in mail boxes, also villains who nick mail on there deliveries,,,( yes there is always one) so think before you condemn, Happy new year..

I am not one of lifes moaners I just think its so sad that people take the trouble to send gifts and cards to you and they never arrive , I am so glad that you have received all your cards and presents, and hopefully I will get mine one day.

I am not moaning at the postal service at all. My gripe is the postman needlessly kicked my dog!

Luckily we got some mail today so my elderly relative who was becoming quite agitated when her parcel hadnt arrived can now sleep easily tonight.

Large companies like Correos are only as good as their employees, at the moment I am having a problem with one of them, which I won't go in to on this site, but apart from this, occasional delays, and difficulty buying Spanish stamps anywhere else except Correos outlets, they are doing a fair job.

I have no complaints about our postman or post office I always give them a tip at Christmas but didnt see him for eight days before Christmas,I just feel sorry that they dont give them some extra help at this time of year in the sorting office, the parcel I received yesterday was posted 10th Dec.I saw the sorting office in Rojales one year and it looked like a tornado had hit it , they do need more help as these are not little villages any more.

All I would say is if you have lived in Spain for as long as I have there's no need to moan about their services - you just go with the flow and as regards to prezzies etc if you are expecting anything at all - tell your senders to post about a month in advance this time of year - then they will surely arrive in time!!!!!

No, I was right, no Christmas mail that was posted on the 10th but an electric bill and the meter was only read on Boxing Day !!!!!!

WEll as this is our seventeenth Christmas here I think we know a bit about the postal system and I never moan I have just made statements of facts.
Happy New Year to everyone!
