Them There Humps

A number of raised zebra crossings around Torrevieja are being removed, as they are deemed illegal by the road traffic network. Although intended to slow traffic down at sites where pedestrians may be vulnerable, the crossing being removed are all on recognised routes used by emergency service vehicles and therefore did not comply with the regulations of the traffic department. Sites, such as the one near the Habaneras shopping centre, close to the SAMU ambulance base, and on the road to the Torrevieja hospital have received priority removal, but further routes may also see a reduction in raised crossings which have caused some damage to vehicles.
