found a purse at market

This morning I found a purse at the market near one of the fruit stalls. I handed it in to the stall holder who immediately looked inside for a number. She then tried to ring the owner.
I hope the purse is returned to the owner.
I must add however, that this purse had a lot of cards inside.....why do people carry these cards around with them??
