Budget Airline Fares
The so called "Budget Airlines" now seem to cater for people with higher budgets only. A recent search for a return flight to UK showed prices for a short couple of hours flight that were more expensive than a 24 hour flight to Oz. Not just for the parental rip-off for those with children travelling in school holiday periods either. Generally the prices this year seem to be astronomical and will probably deter many visitors who have a family and like to hire a villa and pay their own flights.

I fail to comprehend that the air fares have gone up so much even though the price of aviation fuel has fallen dramatically. I understand that airlines do not pay duty on the fuel either.
Many of these airlines posted profits last year too.
Another scandalous rip-off methinks. And another reason not to go back to broken Britain.
More euros for your pounds for visitors to Spain and all swallowed up by higher air fares.
Where you going I am going to UK end of April €100 return I do not think this is excessive I could not get to London return by train from where I lived.
Check out prices to any of the Scottish Airports nightmare . Even my wife and I retired so can pick almost any date for any length of time costs a min of £160 return no luggage,where as my daughter coming out on set dates pays approx £200 each with no hold luggage.
This at a time when fuel is at its cheapest ( oh I forgot we bought that 6months ago ) when prices were high eh ! So when they buy the next 6 months at the cheap price the fares will come down . I think not, mind you the airport tax is another scam.

This is a serious discussion on flights if you want to talk about ice cream I suggest you get a van at the local market or the likes.
I flew Alicante to Gatwick with Norwegian air on Thursday for 24.90 and returned same day with easy jet and paid 32.90 if you find that expensive I feel sorry for you. Taxi Gatwick to London cost me 65.00 more than the total return fare.
if only John , i consider Alicante to Scotland return £100 as cheap but in truth its usually £150+ only 3 carriers into Scotland so no competition
I just take it for granted, I can use Lution, Gatwick, Stanstead or Heathrow, and arrange my meetings on the days the flights are cheapest. I suppose we need some compensation for living in London.
Here here, could not agree more. I wonder how prices compare if one uses the Ferry and drives down. That way holiday makers also do not have the problem of hiring a car this end?
