Nicola Sturgeon

Does anyone else think Nicola Sturgeon is getting far too big for her boots? Sure, she did very well at public speaking during the recent British Parliament Election... but who does she think she is, making threats to the elected Prime Minister and saying she will make life difficult for the Conservatives - whom she hates with a vengeance? She only got half the votes in Scotland and a tiny percent of the total votes cast in the election.
She has confused the overall political situation completely with her obsessive ranting... for instance, I know someone who passionately wants an independent Scotland but much prefers Conservative policies! How on earth can the SNP satisfy that stance... OR the Conservatives!

Got to admit Tom, she is a good talker. It seems strange that she hates Cameron with a vengeance, Yet did him the best possible favour by obliterating Labour off the face of the earth by taking almost all of Labour seats in Scotland, and that alone denied Labour of getting anything out of this election, It also denies Lib-Dem from having a say in future G.B. so it isn't all bad.
I think the SNP have got it right, They didn't get independence (the people didn't want it) but they will get a chance of a bit of cream, as long as they don't get greedy, Cameron can give but he sure as hell can take away. The next few years will tell.

Indeed... and your thoughts show a darn site more intelligence and incite than Reindeer's, whoever that weirdly named person is!

Tom
Sorry to say,but it is best to answer reindeer, when you are absolutely bored out of your skull, I think you have just guaranteed a sarcastic unintelligible reply from him (or Her). I think chalkie found that out last night. Also because I have mentioned the name reindeer I will be next in line for sarcasm, but I am too busy today to play silly talk with them

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-05-10 11:57:55 UTC

Thanks for the information, Alan. I guessed there would be some 'unfortunates' with psychological issues using this site but I don't know who they are, yet. If I had known that Reindeer possibly has mental health issues, I would not have made insinuations about his/her intelligence. I'm sorry Reindeer... I didn't know!

And my question was sarcastic? Come on! Is it really interesting for us living in San Fulgencio to discuss Nicola Sturgeon?

tomjo 3,
I am not going to be personal and tell you what I think of your mental health. That would be to low for this discussion-site about life in Spain. Note life in Spain and not somewhere else.

Well it is to me and possibly a lot of others that used to live in the UK and still have property and family there.

What would this site be like if everybody coming from different countries should discuss what has happened in their countries on this website? Or do you mean this site is exclusive for people coming from U.K?
I do not doubt that it could be interesting for people coming from Scotland, but is this really the correct forum?

Exactly as it is now, so no change there.

Or do you mean this site is exclusive for people coming from U.K?

No I beleive others are welcome but as the language used on this forum is English I thought the majority would be from English speaking countries.

I do not doubt that it could be interesting for people coming from Scotland,

It appears that you do not fully understand the efect that the Scotland situation has on the rest of the UK.

but is this really the correct forum?

If this is forbidden on this forum I am sorry or is it a rule you are trying to impliment.

John,
I think that the SNP gains were important not only to the Scots, but also the English and importantly though reindeer would not agree, us in La Marina.
Because of the massive gains made by the SNP it diluted the Labour vote to make them also rans, it also did away with the sharing the rule of the U.K. Yes it means that Cameron will give the U.K the choice of in or out of the European community, His belief is to stay as we are but try to get a bit of give and take, and I believe that the U.K. does give too much to the Community (not only cash) If he can get something from them the vote will not be necessary. If he cannot get anything back, the U.K. get a vote, and if Cameron loses the vote we as Brits come out of the Union, this will take presumerably years to achieve but every Brit living in San. Ful. Stands to lose most of what they have in Spain. That Reindeer is why I believe people in San Ful and the Urbs. will be interested in what happens.

I don't like the Politician Nicola Sturgeon....I liked her better when she was 'wee' Jimmy Kranke.

Reindeer Keeper: You must be a great conversationalist. What joy to sit and talk with you over a few beers and talking about nothing except the Urb. NOT!
Obviously you watch no TV news and read no newspapers and have no interest in anything outside the Urb.
Wish I knew what you look like so I can avoid you like the plague.
Oh yes and don't dish it out if you can't take it.

Can I ask what share of the vote the Tories got? I think you'll find its way shy of 50.2% of the total UK vote and even less in Scotland. This electoral mandate gives Ms. Sturgeon every right to challenge The UK prime minister on lots of topics, and certainly those that affect Scotland. For example, the EU in / out referendum, which most in Scotland seem to want to stay in, but the English want out. Whole constitutional can of worms there...

Commented Steve in La Marina 2015-05-11 23:06:52 UTC

Steve,
Will say that Ms Sturgeon can and should challenge Cameron, on anything that she feels may be detrimental to the people of Scotland, but at the end of the day, the SNP have to rely not only on every other party to vote with her on any points but also some Conservative M.Ps to vote against their Leader (not allowed in most important votes) or abstain. I believe Cameron to be intelligent enough not to put his party into any huge problems. I also believe that Cameron does not want to pull out of the E.U. but wants more Laws per country to be sorted by that Country and not by Brussels. I believe that the out of Europe is purely a stick to use as and when necessary. Do not forget most Brits abroad would agree to stay in Europe as pulling out could represent many problems for us, Hence I am with the Scots in so much that we need to be in Europe.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-05-12 07:52:30 UTC

1 seat in the British parliament for one party 3,881,129 votes
and for another party 34,243 votes.
Glad we do not have same same kind of voting system here in Spain.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2015-05-12 08:18:41 UTC

Votes are cast per constituency. Some will have much less voters on the electoral register than others. But yes, it would, in my opinion be fairer to have proportional representation such as they have for the Scottish Parliament (which incidentally was designed to keep 1 party from having an overall majority - hasn't worked!).

Commented Steve in La Marina 2015-05-12 11:13:22 UTC

Alan, you are spot on. But the SNP MP's will at least 'rummel them up' as we say in Scotland, instead of the Labour MP's just toeing the party line (run from London). Interesting times.
