Spraying for cockroaches

I've lived here for 8 years and this year I've been getting cockroaches in the house even had 1 during the daytime which is very unusual. Anybody know if the council still spray the drains as I've seen no evidence they have so far this year and think this could be the reason we're being invaded.

Hi negotiator the council have been spraying the drains for cockroaches on the urb. I saw them last month down by calle rojales

Got to say I have not noticed the normal signs of the spraying taking place.
You probably know the one I am on about. sticky paper placed on the outside of the manholes. lol

Negotiator we have had the same problem. We have had more in the last two weeks than in the last ten years. Myself and a neighbour went to the little council office up the top and asked to have the drains done again.

Good idea for me to go too and make a request to have the drains done. I know it's been exceptionally hot and humid and that's more reason for the council to be even more vigilant. Probably false economy on their part and quite honestly would rather they sprayed than spent on fiestas....sacrifices like that have to be made

Sacrifice the fiestas to kill bugs?

At the moment they seem to be more interested in getting the Police to give hassle to the sports centre and to stop live entertainment there. We have all enjoyed entertainment there now for many years. In comes the Alicante living Mare and starts to want to close every thing down. As jeff posted recently to quote La Marina, was granted status as a tourist Town, surely the Valencian Government could have made special permissions, for legal bars, to have music at the weekends, until 01.00. But only during the high season of 1st June until 30th Sept. Any bar that flaunted this concession would be refused permission. Spain relies on Tourism so much, it seems silly that the Valencian Authorities are cutting off their noses. I feel sorry for Pallo the owner of the centre, he must be beside himself with worry about this new regime.

They need to empty the bins more than every two days too. This will help contain the cockroaches & vermin. Especially with the holidaymakers creating even more rubbish. In the winter its not too bad but in this heat & humidity they stink. Also the bin men should clear up the rubbish they drop. This Council is going downhill fast & needs to get a grip.

I was hoping the council would be ok but if they are not worried about Health and Safety that's bad. We have 4 years of them and I was hoping during their time they would spend some of it making the urbanisation nicer and less time on petty things like hounding the Sports Centre and other bars who are entertaining the locals and holidaymakers. I'm making my way to talk to Paulino next week and find out why our services are being cut. It's a shame our Mayor doesn't live here as he can only go on what the council tells him which is it seems cut back on everything to do with the urbanisation.

Negotiator,
Got to disagree with you, I believe the Mayor knows exactly what is going on in La Marina Urbs., In fact I should think he is the instigator of every bit of crap that we are having to go through, and the trash that will follow for the next almost four years. As Mayor of the town it is his job to run the place ,if he is unaware of what is happening, He is not worth the money that we pay for him.
I would like someone on the Council to tell me, how the F*** we have laws that state that we can be fined for putting rubbish in bins outside of the official hours (normally 9pm-11pm), but it seems that now some bins are only emptied every second day, Making the law on times absolute rubbish as vermin and other nasty species have a constant food supply for ever and a day.
Sorry about the swear word, but this PP lot runs most of Spain I don't think they could run a party in a brewery without running out of beer
Only my opinion

Well put Alan but please don't let it be the truth can't bear to think if the cockroaches getting even bigger and fatter. I've already thought that I could have put a saddle on the last one I saw and rode it round the urb. I'm sure they heard me scream back in the UK !! It was massive.
