Food for Christmas

Did you know that there are several families living in this Municipality, who will not have a Very Merry Christmas due to having to go hungry. Believe it or not I was shocked to find out actually how many? This was brought to my attention when a person came to my office last week, in tears, because they had no money to buy food. Having to resort to going through the bins at the Supermarkets to feed the family.
We therefore decided that we, would try to collect foodstuffs for those less fortunate.
I am appealing to all of you out there to donate something at our office, to help feed our hungry. Flour, Long Life Milk, Butter, Potatoes,Pasta, Rice, Tinned Goods, Beans and Lentils.
Any donations can be dropped off at our office on 5 Calle Madrid, between 09.30 and 1330 hrs until Friday. I will also be in the office on Saturday Morning to recieve further donations. The food donated will be dished out after Santa Clause has visited the area of the Social Centre at 6pm that evening.
A big thanks to the guys who donated money to buy food for the hungry. It is good to know that there are still people who have the true meaning of Christmas in their hearts

My heart really goes out to anyone who cannot afford to eat,nothing can be more belittling to a human being than having to go into filthy bins to find something of substance to keep them going.This scourge can and will happen to all Nationalities and you are right we have to help and i mean now,I will be at your place tomorrow,It is everybodies duty to be there queuing to give.For Christs sake this is Christmas,give up your ciggies or alcohol for one day,give up a simple luxury,and turn that into food for starving people.Things are going to get worse for a lot of people,get off your backsides and help them through it.

We absolutely agree with everything you say Alan, so please everybody just do a little to help these people who have fallen on hard times. After all it could happen to any of us......

This most certainly is a very worthwhile cause. If the food is going to be distributed after the Carol's on Saturday evening, at least one knows that the right people are receiving the donations. I would urge all of you to tell your friends about these unfortunate people - who are possibly in this situation through no fault of their own.

Impact charity have donated two full shopping trollys full of food to the mini town hall this morning. After speaking to Jeff and hearing what he was saying about the situation of these people its so wrong. We are a animal chartiy but, when you read of things like this happning in you very own town then all the charities need to step up and help the people who need help in anyway they can

Jeff I can quite understand you wanting to help these poor unfortunate people. My concerns are why are they in this position and what is going to happen to them when the food runs out again. Christmas is one day, and if these people are in genuine need then surely the authorities should step in and help them. I know the people of La marina will put their hands in their pockets to help but in this day and age it should not be necessary, where are our Social Services? If they are Spanish Residents then they should be treated with dignity.
