Rojo's

Friends have just told me that Rojo's (opposite the new Consum) restaurant is open again and is being operated by Karen who used to operate the kitchen at Diva's (now El Paso). Any body tried it yet?

Yes i tried it the other night and the food was lovely. All homemade and on nice hot plates. Service was very good and staff nice and polite. We have already booked to go back with friends.Highly recomended

Sounds good and good to hear that the plates were hot, if only more restaurants realised the importance of that small fact, cold plates leads to meal getting cold quickly. Even Chinese restaurants manage it, why so few others can is a mystery to me. I shall pay a visit soon.

Its a little expensive though menu del dia 12.50 euros, whereas next door and across the road on consume square menu del dia is only 10 or 11 euros.

Very brave opening up in todays climate, especially as there are too many bars on the urb as it is, plus I was told that there had been a lot of trouble / complaints about the bars around the Consum area regards noise and lack of the required soundproofing. Maybe Jeff can clarify

In saying that regarding cost Linda But is the quality of food and service any better than the cheaper restaurant ?

Yes it is 12.50 but with a very nice wine and not the normal cheap stuff you get with menu of the day. And a better meal and better service. I would rather pay a bit extra for a better home cooked meal and better service. Give it a try its worth the money.

I would just like to say that you do not always have to pay that little extra to get better service or homecooked food, my bar can not compare to Rojos on food its totally different but we offer some home cooked food and our service is just as good as somewere, were you pay abit more... I no iam waffling abit but at the end of the day you dont have to spend alot to find good service or good food....

The service and food at the two places I am thinking of in Consume Square are excellent and cheaper and their wine is very good.

I am not saying I would not go the Rojos, as we went in there for a lunch the first week it opened and had a lovely tuna salad.

Hi Grant,

There are quite a few lovely places to eat in the Consume Area, J's Bar, La Tabinita, La Tia Maria, The Final Whistle and the two Chinese restuarants. Also a couple of great bars, The Palm Tree & Los Amigos.
