CURRY MAHAL

Went to this restaurant on La Marina complex. Was looking forward to a nice meal with friends. How disappointed was I! Where do I start.....curry house this is not. Everything was watery and tasted the same (say tasted but there was no taste....very bland)! Staff were unhelpful and I will never go back. Do not waste your money. Find somewhere else! Not one of our friends liked it here

Can you name the place for us ?
Indian, Spice hut in queseda takes some beating

I use the one down at Mercadona Posh India never been let down by food or service. I have never tried Curry Mahal but If it is run by whom I think it is I never will. Posh India for me. But if you go out to Quasada the Spice Hut is for sure a top class Indian restaurant I would also add it has 2 kitchens 1 of which is purely for vegetarian meals.

What a shame that you didnt enjoy, did you complain?
I went there on the opening night and I have to say the food was lovely as were the staff. I know as the night went on some people waited a while for their food, but luckily I was there earlier and didnt have any problems. I thought they did very well as it was their first night and I look forward to going again. But each to their own as they say!

I don't understand as I have never been to the spice hut. Went to curry mahal and had bad experience and food and that is the restaurant am talking about. Have been told to try Posh Palace near mercadona's so am doing that tomorrow. Cannot comment on spice hut as have never been.

Commented Sdesilva1972 in La Marina 2012-04-12 09:06:43 UTC

I say the spice hut in quesada every time its amazong fantastic food staff lovely they will come and sit and have a chat too beautiful atmosphere we go often and would recomend to everyone

Commented happy in the sun in Quesada 2012-04-12 09:59:02 UTC

We have visited this restaurant twice recently and had a fantastic meal. The staff were extremely helpful. Friends of ours who are curry fans from London and Bradford have also visited and commented on how good the curries are.
Don't trust a post from an Anonymous source - try Curry Mahal for yourself!

Commented Norick in La Marina 2012-04-12 11:33:42 UTC

I always say your curry house is like your Church. We all have a "Spiritual home". and we all have our own favourate curry house. We visit different ones but some are special. Ours used to be the "Aggra" in Guardamar but it's all about our different tastes. We've had curry houses highly recommended and not liked them but every restaurant can have a bad night. I think the staff and atmosphere in a place is as important as the food. We're going to try Mahal next week, we'd always rather support our own community than take our money out of town.

Commented mazza in La Marina 2012-04-12 11:37:38 UTC

I agree with Mazza, each to his own, I too have been to highly recommended curry houses and found them not to my taste so I am giving Mahal a try and will form my own opinion on the food and the staff. After all it's awful to dismiss a place on the say of one person.

We had a beautiful meal there a couple of weeks ago. Looked to me like the same owners of Posh Palace. Staff were very courteous. Would definitely go back.

Why has anonymous not been told yet again to use a proper name - I wonder who he is ??

Commented Souxie in La Marina 2012-04-12 17:55:01 UTC

This sounds like part of the campaign to try and ruin this restaurant before it has even got off the ground.
Every new restaurant deserves a chance and it's difficult enough in these current times without comments like this.
One wonders whether "·anonymous" actually ate there

EXCUSE ME!! What are you on about???? I gave my opinion of a restaurant I visited with friends and then this turns into me giving L/M a bad name and 'Nasty jealous troll'!!!! Where do you get any of that from my review! I am glad I don't live here permanently as it seems there are a few nasty people around!!!

Commented Sdesilva1972 in La Marina 2012-04-13 08:08:02 UTC

whilst i totally agree that the post started by anonymous and yes i think this should not be allowed but i do think that everyone should be able to have there say good or bad about places if it is truly what they have experienced and there own thoughts on a subject and then as we can see it is down to others to make there own informed choice whether to visit or not so i'm all for the right to be informed but just don't hide who you are xxx only my opinion

Commented happy in the sun in Quesada 2012-04-13 08:09:56 UTC

I agree with Poppy its a great place to live, however we are all entitled to an opinion. Regarding Trolls & anonymous posters I have been in touch with Steve about these very subjects. But hey your correct it is a great place to 'live and let live''

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2012-04-13 08:15:21 UTC

I see nothing wrong about posting either a good review or a bad review, it is after all only an opinion.

Let's be honest, some of the places you eat at want to charge restaurant prices when all you are really getting is a cafe with paper table cloths.

As for Indian food, I love it all, and yes I have on occasions suffered from Ghandi's revenge

As for the urb, well depends on your location, some parts very good, others like a run down council estate in beirut. Roads, pavements and Dog cp*p etc

Commented Golfer in La Marina 2012-04-13 08:55:13 UTC

Hi "Anonymous", although I disagree with your assessment of the Curry Mahal (I've been twice and the food was fabulous on both occasions), I realise that different people have different tastes and that everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, if you want us take your comments credibly, please sign in using your own name and not "anonymous", it does unfortunately make you out to be a troll, something that this forum suffers a great deal from. Come on, sign in with your name and a picture so that we can see that your's is a genuine posting.

Hi, Im coming on holiday five weeks tomorrow with my partner who has lived on and off in la marina for the past 5yrs with family still living there. People are allowed there opinion and i think one bad experience does put you off a place. Last year we went to a restaurant on the urb which my partner loves and we went for meals on two different nights. The first time was great the food was good as well as the service but the second time later in the week was poor and I will never go back there. Even my partner was disappointed as this was his favourite restaurant and been there many many times before and I have vowed I will not be going back when we are on holiday. We did complain but the result was not worth complaining about. Everyone should have their opinion.

Commented itsmemw in La Marina 2012-04-13 11:02:49 UTC

Everyone has an opinion based on knowledge/experience etc so here goes I will try the "new Indian" as I think they are the ex staff of Indian ocean that was at the top strip, the main/1st one being at La Mata and found the service food etc to be excellent the one at LA Marina did go downhill thus ending in it closing down then much later some of the staff did go to work at Posh Palace (best ask the owners what went on there)I know/have been told already there side, BUT until I have been/tried the new one I will not make a judgement as to which one gets my future use
PS more good posts are needed for this GREAT area that has been "the toe in the water for many" I have known the area for some years now and have met some nice people along the way and also a few that are life long members of the M and G club

I have no knowledge of this restaurant,I am one of a few people who doesnt eat curry etc.So for once I do not have an opinio to put over, except to say thanks to the originator of this thread. At least it knocks down the page regarding the bar restaurant thread.
I would like to add to anonymous, the importance of putting a name to your comments,On this thread alone as yet there are about a dozen comments by anonymous, some not liking some liking and some loving the food at the indian restaurant in question, how do readers know which anonymous is writing which comment,if you just add a name any name will help then at least we will know who is talking about what

We used to visit the restaurant in Benimar, I think it was called the Tajh Mahal. It was always excellent and authentic taste. Does anyone know if they are stillthere?

Commented Don in La Marina 2012-04-15 08:41:25 UTC

I have eaten at all the restaurants mentioned in this string and ,as an experienced curry eater and curry chef, I have to say I have enjoyed all even though they are all different curries. What I would like to say is although they are are nice curries they do not compare to the standard of curry commomly obtained throughout the U.K.. Also the prices charged in Spain for a curry are excessive and there is no obvious reason for this, surely good standard curry at a resonable price has to be a winner looking at the interest from people on this thread!

Commented Moocher in La Marina 2012-04-15 09:51:27 UTC

We have now been to both Posh Palace and the Curry Mahal. In our view the Curry Mahal offered a much better meal, was better value for money and the owners couldn't do enough for us.
On each occasion we went for the budget meal .
We cannot understand Moocher's comment about the high cost of curry meals here.In our view 7.95 € for starter, main and desssert/coffee is very reasonable. Of course if you are going for an evening meal you must expect to pay more.

Commented grumpy in La Marina 2012-04-16 17:10:09 UTC

In fairness I come from Birmingham which is very reasonable, along with most other 'multi cultural cities' in England, in the price of curry. I fully appreciate that there is more competition in Birmingham but profit is still made when starters cost no more than two pounds and a curry is about four pounds. The quality is also extremely high, once again because of the competition.

Commented Moocher in La Marina 2012-04-17 17:32:51 UTC

Like the noise of the bars, this is all getting rather boring. Please can someone find a more interesting subject to debate instead of pulling all the business's apart in LA MARINA.
