Flat Tyre this morning Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

We were walking to the car this morning and *Disaster* - a complete and utter flat tyre. So, I drove at snails pace with hazzard lights on and finally reached the Petrol Station on the top road as you go off the urb. I went in the main shop and in sign and body language managed to let the Spanish man know what the problem was. He left his till (telling his colleague where he was going) and eventually, with much hard work and sweat, he got the old tyre off (which was completely slashed somehow or another) and put on our spare. Thank you so very much young man for helping us out of trouble.

Does anybody know where we can buy a new front tyre for our mercedes car? Is there anywhere in La Marina village?

Hi Carol the same thing happened to us. I got a tyre for my BMW at a scrap yard just off the Dolores Road. They were really helpful there if you go towards Dolores you turn off right just past Mi Hobby and its at the back it's a bit complicated to explain and difficult to find if you don't know it but there is an industrial estate at the back there where the scrap yard is and the tyre place, hope you find it as it only cost us 25 euros and it was brand new.

Hola, we had to buy a new tyre for a hire car many years ago and went to the Carrafour garage, very reasonable and they fitted it

Hi Carol, Please be aware that the Spanish are very keen on having matching tyres on the same axle of both type and the amount of wear so it can cause you a problem at your next ITV if you only renew one tyre, or even worse if checked by the police. Also if you have a puncture it is best to stop at the first possible safe place as driving on a flat can cause further damage to the car.

In the village....from ceramica go left straight thro to almost the end...garage on the right..spanish man speaks llittle english..very good

Thank you all for your advice and suggestions.

We have just gone down to the La Marina Vehicle Services at San Fulgencio - somebody recommended them this morning to me. This man said he paid 25 euros for each tyre and he had a posh car (can't remember the make).

I thought that price was exceptionally good. BUT we were told this morning at the garage it would be 120 euros each tyre, and as Tim stated we need 2, SO 240 euros - how expensive is that for new tyres? We were hoping to pick up a couple of re-conditioned ones.

We told the garage we would think about it.
We are going to shop around a bit more before having to cough up that amount of money..................

Carol I only have a little car but La Marina services quoted me €80 each new or €15 part worn, so went with the part worn! Then I had a problem with the car and took it to Bailen in the village where I always go for repairs, they said I needed 2 new front tyres. The cost for these new €45 each. So it shows you really do have to shop around. Hope you find some cheap ones!

Carrafour are very reasonable, as are the tyre place in Guardamar, just off the N332 near pick n pay

Hi Carol, Can you let me know what size the tyres are and I will get some prices for you. The size will be something like 225/50/17R 91w assuming that this is for your mercedes. James
