In the Coastrider newspaper today there is an announcement about another new local radio station called Radio Real on 96.7fm which is also now on the air.
So now there are two new local radio stations announced within 10 days after a very popular and established radio station - TKO fm - has been forced to close down!
Can anyone else smell a rat here?

Weren´t we all told that local radio stations are not legal ! The Valencian authorities have not issued wavelengths to any of them. Also how can this one be a 'Community Station', surely it is a private enterprise. What is the connection with the 'Community ? Is the Ayuntamiento aware of this new station and have they approved it ? Where is it broadcasting from? Come clean and give us the true facts.

For information Real Radio has been broadcasting for some years now they have just moved frequency and yes this is a private enterprise that is totally legal however my aim is to provide a service for the local community broadcasting local information. if you care to take a look at the website www.bigradio.es over the coming weeks, you will see that we are putting more and more local information on and inviting listeners to submit their own events and stories.
TKO were forced to close as they had no permission to broadcast and have started rebroadcasting as another station Radio Torrevieja. all radio stations in spain are financed privately and are supported by advertising, however not many have gone down the legal route that we have. the authorities are fully aware of this station and as it privately owned has no connection with the town halls apart from we will be broadcsting the publicly available information that it issues

I havent been going for long Tina i worked for Vibe and Spectrum, but decided i wanted to work closer with the community hence Big FM

No Problem Tina I may have not made it clear lol, and i welcome any comments about the style of the station so if you get the chance tune in and we will be adjusting the shows over the coming months to best suit the general community, i am sure we wont please everyone but we will do our best
