IS THIS THE END OF THE URB?

Haven't been on for quite a while but I think this will get everyone riled up.

Al here from Temptations:
My wife, Susan just called to inform me that a member of our town council has just given us a warning that the NATIONAL POLICE are now here in La Marina & will be TOTALLY SHUTTING DOWN ALL THE MUSIC, i.e. DISCO & KARAOKE & LIVE ACTS, from ALL establishments that have been providing this entertainment!
Well, that will pretty much finish off a lot of the bars & restaurants on the urb.
I am at odds as to why the very few moaners & complainers have won their personal battle against the establishments that have had to provide some sort of entertainment just to survive this very long-lasting & serious recession. We have all agreed to install sound-proofing in some cases, kept our windows & doors shut after midnight & in some locations, have shut them as early as 10:00 P.M., & generally, kept the volume down to reasonable levels so as not to disturb the few born-complainers that have made this issue a personal VENDETTA against the establishments that are only trying to make a sad existance in these very tough times.
Speaking for our Establishment only, we have seen the population of La Marina Urb. decrease dramatically over the past 4 years. Not only because of the recession, but we are being told from MANY holiday makers that there is nothing to do here because of the police intervention with the noise. Of course, the police are only doing what they are told to do. Many of the holiday makers have summer villas here that is shared amoungst the many family members & their friends when the come here to holiday. On MANY occasions, I have been told they are NOT coming back because this place is boring. A lot of them go over to other towns, Rojales, Guadamar, Benimar, Benijofar & others & have a great time enjoying Spanish hospitality. I wonder why these towns don't have any noise problems?
It's a whole different story here in La Marina though.
As many of you who have been here for some time, I know what you must be thinking as a few of you have posted messages here on this web-site as to your feelings about the noise issue over the years. I haven't read a lot of complaints lately & I was presuming that we have settled the issue with our neighbours. Apparently, this isn't so. I cannot believe that a few habitual MOANERS have taken their complaints to Valencia & are bound & determined to pretty much destroy the livelihoods of the bar & restaurant owners that have worked their a**es off to provide themselves a small sense of living here in Spain.

YOU FEW SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!!!!!

I would like to propose that the residents here in the urbanisation expose these few people, & shame them as the cowards they are. These few people have succeeded with their incessant complaints to the Valencian Authorities & after all the constant moaning, they have had to finally send a team to investigate & shut down ALL musical entertainment here on the urb. I HOPE YOU ARE PROUD OF YOURSELVES!! I DID NOT COME HERE TO SPAIN TO OPEN A BAR & BECOME RICH OVERNIGHT AS SOME OF YOU THINK RUNNING A BAR IS THAT REWARDING!!! It is one of the toughest ways to just trying to survive in these trying times without having to provide some type of entertainment to attract a few people to be able just to pay the bills. Forget trying to put a few euros into the savings account!!! Everything, IVA, rents, electric, water, food & liquor costs continually rise but we have kept our prices amoungst the lowest in the Costa Blanca because there are people on fixed retirement incomes here.
A few bar owners here have gone way over the top to provide a little class in the form of some very good musical acts. Other bar owners that do not have the space for this type of entertainment have provided Disco & Karaoke to try to make a little money. I guess the few of you constant complainers haven't got anything better to do as you must have had or are having a very sad existance in your later years.
I just hope that the MAJORITY of the people here in La Marina that want to have entertainment will do something about this as we bar owners cannot do any more than we have done this far. I KNOW that some of you good people know who these habitual complainers are & name them & shame them!

Thank you for all the past 6 1/2 years of support from the residents & holiday makers. We just hope we will be able to provide the great times & entertainment (& ice cream!) in the future.

If this is correct would be interested in the source PLEASE. If others are to speak out we would firstly like to know how accurate your statement is in the 1st place?
Because I believe that our British Councillor is away in Poland on holiday at the moment.

what can we do to try to keep our bars able to provide entertainment.
I myself live very near the Sports and Social complex and often hear the music when it is performed on the patios. It would not enter my head to complain, as I like to try to live and let live.
I really cannot understand why people buy propertie near bars then complain about the noise they hear from said bars.
|I was under the impression they got a concession on their rate to compensate for the occasional noise.
Let me know how I can help, as I am up to doing anything I can, that is legal of course.

Must be a wind up Alan as Jeff is away on holiday. So who else would think of putting out any kind of a warning?

Well Paul about 35-40 mins ago I was strolling up the top of the strip and 4-5 gaurdia civil trucks were rolling onto the Urb with lights on but very very very slowly driving down.

I thought that the Black Shirts worked on there own, not with the Gaurdia Civil.

I am in total agreement with Al. Anyone with any balls would show themselves instead of hiding behind the skirts of the Town Hall, however have you contemplated the fact that there might not be any complainers but another hidden agenda by the powers that be? I also live very close to bars and restaurants and to be honest I hear very little and when I do hear anything it is a rare pleasure. Good luck with the battle.

I was out until late at a very noisy bar on La Marina, they had live karaoke and the doors where wide open, Guarda cars keps slowly trawling past but none stopped to say anything, so I do not really comprehend what is happening.

I have an apartment inrojales and it is becoming unbearable and it is about time the police looked in to the racing around with loud music as it isnt the bars that are making the noise its the idiots outsice that are spoiling it for everyone else'

For goodness sake 'Temptations` let us know who IS this 'Member of the Town Council'. If it is a Councillor then he/she is totally out of order passing on information in this way, equally if it is someone who works for the Town Hall leaking information he/she needs exposing.
This urbanization seems to thrive on rumours. Why not bring things into the open. If you have the information first hand, let us know.

Alan
You Have made such a over the top comment that everyone who reads it will take it as dog do-do unless you reveal who told you this..
It seems who ever told you this has made a big fool of you. If its proved correct regarding the police then I will apologise but I don't think that will be happening.

To all the moaners etc what a load of bankers you are why not make yourself known then you can be shunned by all that want to and ban you from shops bars etc as you dont deserve to use ANY the things the urb offers

I think sam hit the nail on the head, when they mentioned a hidden agenda.
During the last upsurge of unrest regarding noise from bars earlier this year,The Council stated they had been summonsed to valencia, where they were told, that valencia had received 70 complaints about noise coming from bars in La Marina. The council were then told to sort it our or Valencia would sort it out for them. The Council then stated that many of the complaints were made by Bar owners themselves(I kid you not).
I asked through this forum, just how many people had complained about the noise(70 complaints do not mean 70 different people made complaints, and also how many of the complaints were from different bar owners.
I was deafened by the silence that came from the council.
Which leads me to believe perhaps these figures are made up by the council, because of some hidden agenda that they have.
This is the first comment i have made on this forum for quite a while
But it looks like I will be on here for a while,If only to defend the bar owners, and people who may be risking trouble because they try to help others, but also i have little faith in the council we have at the moment, who seem to have trouble telling the truth

Commented Alan in La Marina 2012-11-02 12:53:00 UTC

Could the bars on the urbanisation not start collecting the names of people who do NOT object to the music and together send them to Valencia? If the "yay's" far outnumber the "nay's" maybe this will put things into context for them.

@Sandra Yes iwas contracted for Serafins on Haloween and no we did not have any police visits, I keep the music down to a sensible level and the doors were kept closed and as far as i am aware serafins have not had any complaints against them, hope this answers your question
