Flexible Broadband connection in La Fiesta, Quesada

Hi everyone, can anyone recommend a broadband connection you can activate when you need it? We are only out a couple of times a year, hopefully going to 3 or 4 in the next year. Is it better to try and get a dongle, or is there a company which will do internet only as we don't need TV or a landline.
Thanks, Derek

We use Telecablesantapola and find the service excellent. It can be "turned off and on" as needed It cost 15 euros a month for 3mg and aprrox 8 euros per month when "turned off"

I am thinking of having a permanent connection now, as due to a work opportunity where I can be based remotely, I can spend about 4 months per year in Spain and will probably need a landline with UK minutes included too. Looking around, I see dvblab look competitive with their pricing. Has anybody used them? Or have any other suggestions?
Thanks, Derek

We use TelecableSantapola for our internet and telephone and pay 22 euros per month with all UK calls included. Excellent service with both the internet and phone . Can highly recommend them.

wow, that is cheap. I'll take another look at their site as when I originally looked, I was thinking off the stop/start service.

Hi Tina, do you know where the transmitter is that you pick up your signal from? I live near the Recorral Park and can't get any signal from companies that provide internet with the use of a landline. I don't want the phone as I use Skype to call everyone I need to. Maybe this company can help? I get TV signal from Harry's Bar, however, my dish is on a 3 metre pole on top of my roof, this is unsuitable for an internet signal so I'm told. Thanks

I get my signal from a transmitter on the flats by Harris Bar( I think, as that is the way it is facing!!) There are transmitters in many other places and my friend has just had the internet installed and she lives at the very end of Aeropuorto (near the park ) and she gets a very good signal. Give telecablesantapola a call. There are English staff and I am sure they will be able to help you further.

Thanks Tina, I tried them this morning as they certainly do a competitive phone/internet package, but they told me they can't do phone in la Fiesta and only might be able to do the internet, which is a great shame...

I was kind of expecting that answer, I live quite close to La Fiesta and I can't get any internet company to find a signal here. A mast near the Recorral Park really is a necessity for this area of Quesada. I tried DVBlab too, they said no and didn't even come out.

It doesn't help when the mobile signal is so poor around La Fiesta too. My vodafone only picks up 1 bar if I'm lucky. so a dongle might not be a good idea. It's hard enough in the UK when you buy a dongle / phone and don't get a signal, imagine going back to a Spanish provider with the same issue!

OK, I have dvblab coming out Monday to install a 3mb broadband and I am tempted to take out the option of having a UK landline number for people to call me on.
I'll drop some feedback on how it's gone once installed.

When choosing your broadband provider and want to use it to access your cameras from remote to have to assess two important issues:

Make sure that you are able to redirect the necessary ports, not all operators permit.

The upload speed. It's really important to be able to view fluently. Operators usually announce X MB download, but few indicate upload. In Spain 1 mb of upload is acceptable.

OK, install with DVBLAB went well. I have 3mb download and 0.5mb upload (tested with speedtest.net) which should be fine for my CCTV. I have a system in the UK which works fine over my mobile phone, so should be OK with these numbers.
Oscar, I emailed you to see what you can do, hopefully you can work with these numbers.

Cheers, Derek
