Volunteers and charities

I've just been looking at the new K9 website and there's a comment on their "home" page that's got me confused... In the "latest" section, there's a bit from Sheona, their president. It says "we are one of the very few organisations where we are all volunteers , nobody is paid". But I thought all the charities round here were run by un-paid volunteers. Am I wrong? Which charities pay their staff? Anyone know?

La Marina

As I have experienced it most of the charity shop or cafes have a salaried manager/manageress!
However, the others, known as "volunteers" do give their time totally free.
I must admit the terminology "salaried charity worker" is somewhat confusing?

I would like to point out, as the ex-manageress of the La Marina SAT Shop, that in the two years I was in charge of the shop, I worked for nothing and even paid for things out of my own pocket.. I do not know anything about past, present or future managers and neither am I interested but I would just like to put the record straight.

Oh I got my thanks alright. But i will not go down that road only to say it could put me off working for other Charities for life.
