RE: The Entertainment Problem

I was under the impression that we had a councillor for "The Urb."
Isn't it his job to represent and take onboard any issues that may arise concerning the bar owners and entertainment. He should especially be aware of the rules and regulations as surely thats what he gets paid (overpaid) for.
Ah yes. Councillor Jeff L. Where are you? Practicing your next Kareoke rendition?
You always manage to keep a low profile.

Just a thought. Do the squeeze box buskers outside Consum have to have a license?

I think we on the Urb are mostly coming up with the same conclusion
That being that Jeff firstly does not have the will or ability to keep us informed of what is going on, and secondly has no ability to control or moderate what these local police officers get up to.
It is said that it was the local chief of police who apparently was the officer who was so rude at Rojos, to firstly the owners and secondly the members of the public who tried to speak to him the other week, It seems that it was the man who is chief of police was apparently the officer without insignia on his uniform.
So it is easy to see why our Councillor Jeff L is not wanting to tell us anything. What a B****y mess they are in. But who suffers yes us that live or work here. Plus if they come the holiday makers.

Just would like to point out that the bar & restaurant owners have been asked to attend a meeting next Monday.

Commented Dell in La Marina 2014-06-14 09:02:50 UTC

I feel that I must ask? Is this a meeting of all the bars in the consum area or is a meeting with Rojos only and that the police are going to apologise to the bar owners for there crass behavior.

Commented Hope in La Marina 2014-06-14 09:20:22 UTC

My understanding is that all the owners have been invited to attend, there are separate meetings based on area location, eg Consum area is Monday, Super value area is another day, grey area another day & so on, different meetings are probably necessary because there's no where large enough to fit absolutely everyone in at the same time, the contents of the meeting was not disclosed on my invitation.

Commented Dell in La Marina 2014-06-14 09:55:03 UTC

Reindeer,
How long did it take you to realise that SupaValu, doesnt have an 'e' on the end of it, about as long as it took everybody else, but unnecessary as I bet everybody knew what shop was meant.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2014-06-14 12:53:42 UTC

Well Reindeer who the hell cares about whether or not there is an E on the end of SupaValu. If you are that clever and pedantic how come you don't know that question marks should be within the inverted commas. Get a life!
The issue was not an English grammar test.

It must be a big secret then Hogshead. I would suggest that if you smell gas...........run like hell!

Commented dynosore in San Fulgencio 2014-06-14 15:55:47 UTC

I do hope that by the end of next weeks meetings that we will not all be wearing black arm bands in memory of what we had. Shame the bars did not form an LVA to speak for and to look after their best interests. Tommy I think was correct with that idea.

Commented Ian in La Marina 2014-06-14 16:12:12 UTC

Councillor for the urbanisations Jeff Wiszniewski has not updated any of his web sites, blogs, or Facebook pages since he received a denuncia for sexual harassment to a former employee which has been reported in Spanish and English newspapers.

Commented Sandra in La Marina 2014-06-14 16:45:47 UTC

Suggest you take off your rose tinted glasses Sandra ,what you are talking about occurred in February, Jeff was on his blog in May, thanking people who had sympathized on hearing of the death of his Mother in Scotland, and secondly regarding the gas con that should now be harder for the con men to get money out of us. But as people often say, don't let the truth get in the way of a good rumour

Commented Alan in La Marina 2014-06-14 17:25:30 UTC

I have resisted responding on this forum but since you obviously follow the councillor for the urbanisation movements . You will have noted that the last outcry he was back in Scotland for his mothers funeral. And yet again he was back in Scotland when the police decided to get heavy with Rojos.
Have you never thought every time he goes home this problem with the bars , music etc always raises it's head as it did last November when the men in Black we're moving into the Urb in lorries to close down the bars utter tosh there has not been a bar on the Urb Consume area or not closed down why don't you just have a look around . Oh and by the way if you or any others on here want to take control and make a better job of it carry on we are all waiting.
I hope the people who look around at the social centre being used , at the sports area being used at the town hall more accesable than it's ever been, parcels for the needy, social activities including markets & trips being encouraged by the town hall I could go on . But if your honest we stay in a good area with easy access to doctors , shops etc and airports the climate is good why do people only ever see the negatives on the area if I didn't know better it would scare the life out of me and certainly wouldn't want to live there. If your a Brit remember your in Spain if you want to live in little Britain go home, if you want to put animals before humans or the Urb vote the last lot in .
I think what I'm saying is we are lucky to live in this area where we ex pats don't have to learn the language because rightly or wrongly it's been turned into little Britain .
Just so you know I will not respond to ant of the vitriolic remarks that I anticipate as a result of this post. Just think you could be back in the place you hold in such high regard you stay in La Marina

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2014-06-14 23:34:12 UTC

So much of what weejohn has said above is totally true. They have on the whole done a very respectable job for the Urb. But the weakness comes from lack of control over how the local police carry out there duties and a few bars who still think that loud music outside after 12.00 at night is quite acceptable.
Problem is bar owner just turn a deaf ear to it. Take last night at way past 12.30 a bar somewhere on the Urb was blasting out very loud music. So pleased we did not live any closer to it than we do, feel sorry for those that did live close by. In many cases bar owners only have one enemy that's them selves.

Commented Hope in La Marina 2014-06-15 07:04:36 UTC

Yes Hope, what weejohnten said was on the whole perfectly true, whereas Sandra, generally repeats the words of an ex-councilor, who runs a sort of forum, that is so biased, if it said anything true it really wouldn't be believed.
But as for last nights late music, Unless it was before midnight or after 2.am,I would query where the noise was actually coming from (England were playing Italy, so most bars would have football on.
But I do believe some bars do ruin it for others by the couldn't give two monkeys attitude to everybody else

Commented Alan in La Marina 2014-06-15 09:10:29 UTC

When I got back from walking the dog at 12.40 it was still on loud and clear. Was a loud band not football. One only comment to weejohn is, I agree with most he said but what a shame they are so so so bad at publicity on whats on. Never see anything on any boards anywhere nor can they be bothered to put things onto the forum whats on section.Such a shame. I also agree with hopes posting wholeheartedly.

Why not name the bar that had the music/band playing

Commented 2nd Casa in La Marina 2014-06-15 10:51:58 UTC

Would of thought someone new who the bar was. I couldn't tell from my area in Oasis. Just a bit to far away.

One thing that has been advertised well in advance is the Rock Concert, which is taking place next month albeit it is only a one day one this year (fingers burned last year ?) and the admission will be free. I hear the stage and electrical set up will cost us 21000 Euros, but hey ho who cares, should really upset the noise moaners, not only wont they be able to get the police involved, but they are having to pay towards a bit of really loud noise

Commented Alan in La Marina 2014-06-15 12:08:33 UTC

I had hoped that they would not be having the Rock Concert this year. They have not listed it on this site. Anyone aware of the date please. We will have a night away in Beny.

Commented Daisy in La Marina 2014-06-15 14:49:11 UTC

Daisy,
How can you not want to listen to such wonderful melodies, banged out by half a dozen groups, I just cannot believe that you would want to be somewhere else,(LOL).
The ' concert' for want of a better word will take place on the 12th July, From what I hear most people don't want it on La Marina Urb. also although jeff will take some stick for it, please don't forget that the people responsible are surely the Coucillor for Youth and Culture, and the councillor for parks and gardens. (Just my opinion)

Commented Alan in La Marina 2014-06-15 15:50:20 UTC

Where on the urb will the groups be playing there melodic tones

Commented 2nd Casa in La Marina 2014-06-15 16:03:58 UTC

As far as I am aware, it will be in the normal area, nice and open for the sound to travel .It will be in the Market Area, If as normal Dos Mas will sponsor it and they will be allowed to have the only bar in the Market Square, I should also think that no alcohol or food will be allowed to be taken inside, and possibly the part time police will be searching suspicious bags etc. Don't know any of this as Gospel but that is how it has gone in previous years

This is from another site updated by opposition councillors... At least they provide some information about what is happening at council meetings...
12th June 2014
San Fulgencio council has no money in the coffers. At a full council meeting today the current governing coalition, including British councillor Jeffrey Wiszniewski, all voted in favour of borrowing more money to pay wages. Opposition councillors did not vote in favour of more borrowing and for three years have informed and objected to the current coalition’s squandering of funds on needless projects and unnecessary salaries to councillors and their personal assistants of over half a million Euros in order to maintain the PP/PIPN coalition. The Regional Government eventually agreed with opposition councillors and tried to stop the rot a few months ago when they ordered the coalition to terminate the employment of three of councillor Wiszniewski’s personal assistants, one of them was a council paid full time college student!
More borrowing, therefore increasing the Town Hall's already massive debts, and more cuts in services, this was the information conveyed at today’s full council meeting. It was also revealed that the population has reduced by 25% which will result in reduced subsidies from Regional and National Government departments. Last year the National Statistics Office made it compulsory for the municipality to re-register local people on the padron, but the San Fulgencio coalition did not organise a long term and meaningful campaign of notification and awareness of the absolute necessity for all local people to re-register on the padron, and now it is too late. The council will very soon raise rubbish collection and IBI taxes again, and further reduce public services. In a press statement this week coalition councillor Jeffrey Wiszniewski stated that budgets for fiestas will be reduced by approx 25%, but, at one of the recent private governing councillors meetings he and his fellow governing councillors approved a budget of 21,175 Euros to pay for the stage and sound system for the next Rock Arena concert which will be on 12 July 2014. In addition will be the costs involved in policing the event and cleaning up afterwards. They also approved a no admission fee for people attending this year’s concert, it is totally free!
Councillor Jeffrey Wiszniewski (PIPN)and another coalition councillor (PP) receive 650 Euros for each private governing councillors meeting they attend. There are usually five meetings each month. Some of these meetings have been logged with duration of just five minutes.

Interesting Jeff’s opposition bods have been a little put off by the obvious support he seems to have. But in politics no one ever comes out super clean. Interesting to see that the first 2 names up here who represent the lot who lost last time are Sandra and Sue (real names being) Love the way the info was put over, but do not forget that the last lot left leaving a really large financial debt, of which has been slowly eroded away. If the others get in one of their main policy’s will I am told be to close the new council office, where so many of us have been to for help.

Commented Douglas in La Marina 2014-06-16 08:51:06 UTC

Thank you Douglas,
I did actually write a comment which would of appeared before yours, But then I thought, what is the point in telling Sue she has taken in by a previous Counseller.
She actually writes a complete diatribe of rubbis that he puts on his 'info' board, and looking back on her previous comments she and a couple of other people have made comments which all seem to be almost word for word of what has appeared on the 'info' board of the ex- counsellor, I ask Sue, Sandra and the other person to say to Mark ,that he doesn't allow us to answer his crap on his 'info', so why doesn't he have the guts to put it on here in his own name, so that he can see what some people think of him,, Instead of you lot taking the flak for doing his bidding

Commented Alan in La Marina 2014-06-16 09:25:31 UTC

Perhaps only perhaps Mark will have the nerve to let others make comments on his site. Awaiting his response if he dares

Commented Douglas in La Marina 2014-06-16 09:55:31 UTC

Douglas,
Would like it to happen, but he has no intention of ever letting people tell him what they want .
Although having read the Leader this week, and seeing San Fulgencio will lose 25% of Councillors next May, He may realize the chance of getting his cushy job back on Council, looks very bleak that he may try the old' meet and greet your public' to let us all see what a really nice guy he is. The main problem with losing 4 councilors, is that,i t is not all we will lose, Due to the drop in Valencia Regional and Alicante Diputant, Payments to us we could in my opinion lose a doctor, plus other medical staff, shorter clinical opening hours, our Ambulance, Some Police Local, plus a good deal of maintainence of roads and infrastructure of the Area. as well as closure possibly of mini Town hall and Council office. I did say that this was in my opinion, I know nothing official, But I am sure Mark will tell Sue and Sandra, when he needs to blame the Council for it, so they can start the anti council diatribe
