Valencia Pilot Scheme Agreement

I Refer To Jeff's Blog
Terms agreed seem rather unrealistic given that bars have all their paperwork in place.
1 music at an acceptable level. 1a Acceptable to whom?
2 Windows and doors kept closed 2a What about the smokers who will be in and out every few minutes? How is that possible if all the windows and doors are closed.
3 Music to finish at midnight, 3a Perfectly acceptable as most people will want to go home then anyway. If not before.
4 Ensure that those sitting outside maintain order and keep the noise down. 4a What do they think the people sitting outside are doing. They can't hear anything and hardly singing along as the windows and doors are closed. Is only whispering allowed?
My God we are in Spain. Who wants to sit inside on a warm evening? Get real. What is the point of sitting outside when the entertainment is inside and all the doors and windows are closed.
Being realistic again most of the bars only have enough room inside for 40 people max to be comfortable being only single units.
The area is economically dependent on tourism in the Summer as bars need to make enough money to buffer the long winter and residents do not provide enough "bums on seats."
For someone to make the idiotic statement that there will always be somebody to take over a failed bar/business is absolutely ludicrous. Eventually investors will dry-up when they see the books. The area will then die. The property bubble which seems to be getting better will die with it and the long term prognosis is a ghost town.
Hopefully the crap corrupt councillors will die with it.
There you go!

dynosore,
you can't really mean that only people interested in bars with loud music keep the property market up. Is this really what you believe? Is it an impossible thought for you to think that people want to move to Spain to have a nice and comfortable life without loud music coming from bars.

2 Windows and doors kept closed 2a What about the smokers who will be in and out every few minutes? How is that possible if all the windows and doors are closed.

2b? Why must the smokers use the windows for coming in and out?

I have known the people who own the Sports complex for years and was under the impression that Pallo was Italian and Hellena, Icelandic. So where do you get the "Spanish run" bar from? Pardon me if I am being thick. If you are going to attack people get your facts right. This couple work really hard to run the Sports Complex and provide a good service. Many Charities depend on this venue to make money. Would you have them close down? They neither of them get into petty squabbles with other bar owners, they carry on with their own lives and don't interfere with anyone else so why should they have problems.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2014-06-19 17:40:13 UTC

welll caroline regarding your coment about the sports center working hard we all worked hard but how can they be allowed to have live music outside without any probems with the police it is not a level playingfield. Can any one answer that question please

Commented lyndamaysoussi in La Marina 2014-06-19 21:54:51 UTC

Now how come this can be acceptable on a Friday night at the Sports Centre Live with mics & and amplifiers OUTSIDE seems to brake every rule in the book but hey it went on till 12 no sign of any police.
is it one rule for some and another for the rest after all this venue is in the middle of the Urbinisation.

Interesting to see that out Councillor for the urb putting up the above statement. That will lose him rather a lot of votes next year at election time, as most people are fully aware as to who weejohn is.

Commented Douglas in La Marina 2014-06-22 16:02:06 UTC

Come on then smart man Douglas tell me who I am where I stay on the Urb I'll allow you any one of my two addresses on the Urb old & new. Where I frequent and what I look like .
You have no idea your an imposter I only deal in Facts not fiction and what's posted above is FACT .

Oh and by the way viva la sports centre it should be the same all over the Urb no matter where you are.

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2014-06-22 16:11:28 UTC

There has for ever been live outside entertainment at the sports cente. It is one of the main features of La Marina.
Would take an odds on bet that Jeff has posted that just in case anyone thinks there are any backhanders going on. Every one who purchased a property in that area were fully aware that some years in the summer months there is out side entertainers on 7 nights a week. Do get a life Jeff.

Yes what you posted was fact I agree it does not need stiring or we will have nothing left out side.

Can I just re iterate once and for all that I am not Jeff! I will admit to being a supporter of Jeff I have a h property not far from the sports centre and at no point have I complained about it and never will this is Spain
However you cannot have one rule for Consume Square and a different rule for the other areas of the Urb, after all the houss were all built around the marker area before the rock concert was announced yet that proceeds apparently. I say again it's either one rule for all let's get back to living in Spain not the UK relax enjoy the lifestyle & the weather if you want a British lifestyle go back to bloody Britain and leave the rest of us to enjoy our life & retirement .

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2014-06-22 16:27:46 UTC

The Sports Complex is one of the few venues that keep the holiday makers coming to La Marina, and outside music in the the 3 summer months has been going for the last 25 years with very few complaints. The music now stops at midnight, so lets keep the holiday makers coming. We don't want a dead urbanisation, with most of the shops and bars closing do we, because without the visitors I can see shops like Mercadona, lidl, and iceland closing, and that's just for starters. Urbanisation Marina is a holiday area, as can be seen out of season, with so many unoccupied houses.

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2014-06-22 16:30:26 UTC

I am sure that Weejohnten is not Jeff, but he is a great supporter of Jeff and what he stands for, this I can vouch for as at one time I was a Jeff hater, and had regular matches with weejohn on this forum,I have calmed down a bit since then, not because I feel Jeff is anymore likeable, but most of the rest of the Council, seem to be getting worse.
I think the general feeling is that the sports club do hold outside nights (been to a few myself) and found them enjoyable, Trouble is by advertising that everybody knows it goes on, may well lead to this pathetic Council, putting a stop to it, when really what the vast majority of us want is a level playing field and all bars to be allowed some freedom. I am also sure the level playing field idea ,is out of the question until the Police start fining the people who make spurious complaints, just because they can.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2014-06-22 16:50:32 UTC

Exactly all I ask is if I go to Consume area Or Grey Area or anywhere else on the Urb that we can enjoy the music & entertainment which should be like for like where ever you are on this urbanisation.
Can I just say it's rubbing salt in the wounds of other bars & customers when this is OPENLY advertised yet nobody in authority makes any effort to stop it "even to take it inside"
Like loads of others I have many a goodnight under the stars in the Sports Centre and have no wish for it to be stopped just allowed elsewhere

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2014-06-22 16:58:03 UTC

I was up The Sports Complex on Friday night and the music did NOT go on until 12.00. It actually finished dead on 11.30.
All evening Pallo was in and out with his sound box (whatever you call the thing) and Bella Luna was not at all loud. It
was in fact very nice to be able to chat to your friends.

SO, yes agree it should be the same Rule for everyone, so all the bars should be allowed outside music at a reasonable sound up to 12.00. That should be quite acceptable for everyone. So really don't know why there are all these problems. It my eyes it's very simple. Does everyone wan't La Marina to end up a Ghost Town - I certainly don't.

Commented SlytheGuy in La Marina 2014-06-22 17:01:25 UTC

The SportsComplex has always had music outside and this has stopped at the witching hour or sooner as was the case on Friday. It seems to be a minority of people trying to turn La Marina into a music free zone but are being selective over who they complain about! What aboutthe dreaded Rock festival and the music coming from the new Posh Club in the afternoons and evenings. Lets have the same fair rule for all with music at acceptable levels and reasonable hours.

I find this astonishing, it was only last Monday we got told from Paulino, Jeff & the chief of Policia local I quote "UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS ANYONE ALLOWED LIVE MUSIC OUTSIDE","NO BAR HAS A LICENSE FOR LIVE MUSIC OUTSIDE" what is going here, I've been closing my windows & doors during live music, & yet live music could clearly been heard outside last night. I agree WE ALL SHOULD BE ALLOWED outside, music up to 11.30/12pm or NO ONE AT ALL, it's simply not fair to have one rule for one & another rule for another, if this is not sorted out I have no doubt this will cost the current administration votes ??
Regarding Weejohn, I can assure you all he's NOT Jeff, I've meet Weejohn & his lovely family many times.

I certainly didn't hear any live music going on sunday night,...but maybe I wasn't out quite late enough,...I was only around consum area till about 5.30 then went up to anandas.
Athough I do feel for the bars in consum area with regards to the live music and their mini fiestas, this problem has been going on for 5 years to my knowledge,....It certainly didn't help when the bars there started to call the police on each other just because one bar had more customers in than the other, piece that together with the idiotic neighbours close to consum square who keep complaining about the noise and you should expect nothing but trouble,.....I respect that there should be a level playing field for the whole of the urb with the regards of music outside and mini fiestas,....but at the same time why penalise the other areas who do not have complaints made against them,....it's like cutting off your nose to spite your face,...I expect I'm going to receive some flack for that comment, but hey,....when I'm out and about I want live music and to be able to sit outside,....if that be at the sports complex, grey area, or on the strip, then so be it,...but I fear till consum square, the immediate residents, the council and police start helping each other out, then I won't be frequenting any live music in that area till the big fiesta in august.

Commented r_moreton in La Marina 2014-06-24 06:59:11 UTC

Well put r-morton The majority of us up here on the Urb would totally agree with you. The only thing I would add is that the problem infact has its roots based in legislation from Valencia they believe that only Benidorm should be allowed music outside, after all tourists only go to Benidorm don't they. It would take a very brave Political Party to sort that one out. It is way above the heads of local politicians regardless of Political allegiance. We all know that that is very unlikely to happen.

Commented Douglas in La Marina 2014-06-24 07:18:13 UTC

It does appear that the Sports complex & Posh had there meeting with Paulino, Jeff & the chief of Policia Local only yesterday afternoon to discuss the new rules regarding live music, so they wouldn't have know about it last Sunday !!!

Commented Dell in La Marina 2014-06-24 12:32:40 UTC

If this wasn't so serious, it would make a bloody good carry on film. I was under the impression that most of the latest rules were infact ,last years rules that gradually had been eaten away by some nasty bad bad bar owners, which suddenly caused mayhem with the Councillors of San fulgencio and the chief of police. so in retaliation they decided to cut the amount of mini fiestas that could be held in each area. I am amazed to read that no one from the Council or the police or in that fact any bar owner , had the courtesy to inform the owners of Posh Club, to be careful how he spent a bloody load of money which would liven up La Marina massively if he were allowed to do the simple things they planned, they in fact had advertised well in advance, surely some one must of told them of the p`roblems they may face. If no one warned them then shame on the Police The Council and many other people who damn well should of told them, Hopefully the other plans they have for this site will go ahead, and not be ruined by those who know better . With friends like you lot who needs enemies. Before you ask me, I will tell you I am not a member of posh Club. I didn't go to the grand opening, but I do know a lot of people who are menbers, and others who went to the opening and all speak highly of this place and the way it is run, just that I am so annoyed that some idiots must of found it fun to watch someone possibly throw away a bundle of cash that La Marina Urb needs spending on it to bring it up to date and not become a hole filled with concrete.
As usual my opinion,

Commented Alan in La Marina 2014-06-24 13:24:13 UTC

This could be the perfect soap opera ingredients.
The bar owner who doesn't care if some other bar owner is doing his best to follow the rules and the people with different opinions supporting their favorite bar. And all people living in the area trying to have a nice and normal life. Some like to listen to music in the background. Other with bad hearing like the music being played loud. But not only to make the neighbours mad. They truly like loud music. And think this is normal and that it is not normal to have a quiet evening and just listen to the few birds sitting in the bushes.
Think of all the perfect characters for the different roles living in the urb.
This could be something! A truly good soap opera good for many years to come.

Yes well done on you post. I live in Quesada and unfortunately the same goes here. The councils must realise that they are cutting their nose off to spite their face. Last Sept we booked a restaurant for our club subset party for 150 people. Without much notice the police slapped a no music ban on Stan and Ollies where the music and dancing was going to be on their back terrace. No problem with smokers as its outside, no in and outs and doors opening and shutting. The terrace overlooks the roundabout and main road so no residents to annoy. Absolute madness. The restaurant lost this booking and any profits made! We lost our preferred venue! We moved it to El Raso surrounded by houses, no problem with music till midnight, have to add went on longer than that. Also have to add El Raso Spanish run. When will Spain wake up and realise that forcing businesses to close is BAD for their economy. Rant over for now.

It does seem to be a them and us attitude. What happened to the law which said that an English run business, if they needed staff, had to employ at least one Spanish employee. Or did I dream this scenario. As to complaints, the people kicking up the most fuss about the "noise" of the "music" seems to be the Brits. I suppose when all these complainers have their own way, and la Marina becomes a tranquil oasis, then these moaners will probably pack up and go home, complaining that they cannot sell their houses. I have to say I prefer the Urb as it is now with all that is going on. When we arrived in 2003 it was very quiet and not at all to our liking - do we want to go back to this?
