Suma
Now the election is over, just received our new Suma bill, what a shock we are in a quad and ours has gone up by over 20%, that means our quad will be paying over 1,000 euros. What will we see for all the money that we pay, like to know how much they pay in San Fulgencio, nowhere near what we pay I bet. What is in the pipeline for the urb. to show for all the money we pay, and yes I did vote in the election.
Quad is 4 homes so 4 x 262 = over 1,000 euros, there are hundreds of quads on the urb.
Yep realise what a quad is, 4 houses joined together, when someone says my quad I assume 1 house not 4.
Our Suma has risen to 950 euro this year for a detached house, a rise of 20 per cent. Anyone else in this bracket for a single house?
Yes 20% is far too much especialy when you look at what the council does not do, yes they sometimes pull the wool over our eyes do a bit leave a lot I a! Not happy but what can you do pray tell
Pretty sure this 20% rise was intimated long before the election....
The council is stoney broke. They need to collect money from somewhere, so what the easiest way to achieve that? You guessed it! The IBI...
It's a bit misleading to say a quad is 1000 euros though, when that is actually 4 separate dwellings.
The reason the Suma as risen by 20%
The local government have put a 6% increase on because over 3000 people have come of the Padron and this as reduced by about €600000 the amount received from central government.
The other 14% increase is from central government as they have reviewed the Catastral Value of all properties this value as risen hence the 14% increase.
The Local Government have also increased the Car Tax(Suma) by 8%
No matter who won the Election the Suma would have been increased

David is absolutely right, I've previously mentioned the increase in Suma on previous posts, however unfortunately this is just the beginning, more austerity measures are going to be announced soon with increases to Iberdrola & Hydroagua immenant, everyone will be facing a tougher economy expected later this year & during 2016.

If you read the comments you can easily get the impression that people think Suma is a tax.
Suma is not a tax. Suma is a public body, set up by the Provincial Council of Alicante in 1990. Their mission is to administer and collect municipal taxes for the Town Councils of the province of Alicante. They are a local administrative organisation and their responsibilities in tax administration and collection are delegated by town councils and other Administration bodies.

Have had our Suma bill for this year and with the 20% rise i am quite happy to pay it, what do people want for their money. We are paying less in a year than we were paying for a month in England over 12 years ago. When people moan about their bills do they stop to convert it back to pounds sterling before they compare it with bills in England??
I certainly wasn't moaning about my bill. But with so many people saying how little they pay I have asked if anyone else is paying in the region of one thousand euros per year for a single dwelling. So far no reply
I dont get it. Your talking about a quad and paying €1000. Thats for 4 dwelings not one. I know someone who has a detached house, La Marina Urb, 132 sq/m and pays about €350 for the year.
Just received our suma Bill which has gone from 95 to 145 euros for a Josephina, still better then the UK but a 50% increase seems a bit steep?
You are not in one dwelling your share will be a quarter of the €1000 as explained the large rise is not due to the Local Council but the increase in value of your property
I am in a single dwelling, not a quad and my annual payment to the SUMA has just increased to just shy of a thousand euro. Is this normal for La Marina?

Scotty. I have Detached Villa, and pay just under 500 Euros a year. Dread to think how grand your place is, My wife will be telling me to go and buy one. lol

And I live in a hut!? I pay less than 145 Euro a year.
Seriously, If you have had the house from the beginning (1986) you very often pay less.

Dusty Bin,
Is it a semi ot a terraced cardboard box.
When I was young ,we lived in a hole in the road, but at least it was a semi detached hole, so we only had noisy neighbours on one side
Why dont you go to the suma office in Guardemar and ask why it is so expensive or ask neighbours what they are paying but I suppose you do not have neighbours paying for a mansion in its own grounds.
I don't live in a mansion or have large grounds. I don't have a swimming pool either. It is a large house but no larger than many others in la Marina. I am not playing a game of my house is bigger (or smaller) than yours just interested to know if anyone else is paying this amount. Or neighbours say not. Have had our solicitor question it and drew a blank

you're all very lucky. Your rate bill is less than buying a house back home in the uk where I come from.

chalkie,
I am gutted. I have just over 5oo pounds saved up and I was off to the U.K. in a couple of weeks to buy a house .Now you tell me houses in the U,K, cost more than 500 pounds. lol

Prices are rising all the time its now half a million but in Euros who knows or should I say Pesetas that would be fuck all
That cant be right, a €1000 for Suma. We are in the village and paid €254 last year even with a 20% increase its not anywhere near that cost. Thats for a 3 bed semi.
