Hi Ian. Actually, the Spanish have 3 prices. 1 for bar, 1 for lounge and 1 for outside terrace. Is this particular bar Spanish or English?
It's not a scam if the price list makes it clear and if not, then you don't have to pay.
This practice is very common in France so maybe the Spanish are trying it to see if they can increase revenue.
The Spanish have been carrying out this practice for a long time. I have a bar, and the old price list shows just that. I think Ian is confusing the issue by stating you pay 1€ extra on drinks, whereas the article in the Euro weekly states that the bar in question was charging 1€ fir waiter service for outside service.
I guess its the UK bar in Quesada and they are just doing what the Spanish do.
Incidentally, I heard recently, an English bar on La Marina Urb was charging for ice! How about that!
