JEFF WHAT ARE THE POLICE DOING ABOUT THESE BOGUS GAS MEN. THEY HAVE JUST COME TO MY GATE ON PARQUE MANZANARES AND I TOLD THEM TO POLITELY GO AWAY. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE SUBJECTED TO THESE PEOPLE TRYING TO CON US OUT OF OUR MONEY. OLD PEOPLE LIVING ON THERE OWN ARE VERY VUNERABLE. ONE DAY THEY ARE GOING TO PICK ON THE WRONG PERSON AND GET THEIR COMEUPPANCE, THE ONLY THING IS THE PERSON WHO DOES IT WILL BE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE. ITS ABOUT TIME WE WERE PROTECTED FROM THEM.

I have read your blog Jeff, this is not the first time they have approached me. In December 2010 they came to my house two days after I had purchased a new fire, they told me my name had come up on the computer and changed the gas bottle connection saying it was the wrong one. They wanted to charge me 41 euros but I told them I did not have any money or cheques and I would be going back to the shop to have a word with them. They did not come back for their money. We discovered after they had changed our new top for an old one. If this is within the law I give up. In my book it is theft.

They were here today Parque del Nalon...3 of them in blue shirts and trousers..with repsol logo'd on....they charged my neighbor, who was silly enough to let them in..62 e to give them a certificate to say his appliances were ok!!!! Another neighbor was asked for 100e for the same thing!! But told them to 'go away' they came to me but I sent the dog out to bark furiously at them!!!

As so many seem to of not read Jeffs Blog this is what it states.
Gas men. The first thing I should point out is that these guys are legal. It is their methods that may be suspect. Yes it is true that Gas Appliances should be inspected on a regular basis. But it is up to the customer to decide who does the job. When these men call unsolicited, they should not be admitted to your home. Ask to see their ID. If you are satisfied, tell them to come back at a time that suits you. If you do let them in to examine your appliances tell them that they must give you a written quote. NEVER allow them to carry out any work without a quote. If they say something needs replaced, ask them to show you. If it is a length of tubing, this costs no more than €3 from the DIY shops, the regulator costs between €7 and €12. These guys have been known to charge exhorbitant prices for parts and labour. If they harass you, call the Police.

If these people genuinely work for Repsol, and we can only assume they do if they are wearing their uniform, then why are they, as a Company, allowed to work in this way. If they do not work for Repsol why are they allowed to get away with it?

BOGUS GAS MAN ARRESTED

At least one bogus 'gas man' is now behind bars, who has been operating in San Fulgencio and other neighbouring municipalities.
