Wood Burners

Hi There! Does anyone out there have a wood burning heater we just wondered how well they work. We only have a smallish apartment and thought it might be just the thing in the colder months. Do they make a lot of mess? Are they expensive to buy/run? I know my other half would enjoy having a real fire, it's one of those men things isn't it? Men love playing with fire, must go back to cave men times.

We have a log burner and out of all the things we've bought for our house, that is by far the best. However, we've got friends who have bought Spanish log burners and yes they are a lot cheaper than the one we've got but in our opinion, and theirs, they are not as efficient or as good a quality. Lash out (if you can) on a good quality English stove. Ring John from Meridian Stoves on 00 34 966 480 905 or 00 34 616 451 634. We recommended him to our friends two years ago and they are thrilled with the heat they get from theirs and all his stoves have air wash system so the door cleans itself. We only have to clean ours once a week. Maz

I agree with Maz, we rent a property with a cheap spanish log burning stove in it. I have to say it does the job very well, but having had multi fuel burners in the UK, those are much better. Our does not have fire bricks in it. We usually light it from early December to end of February. Our can only burn wood, I get 1000kg delivered for around €140 which might last or may need topping up, depending on the weather.
