Karaoke Tonight
Just listening to radio and Ritchie Sparks is doing a Karaoke show at Serafins bar tonight. I wonder if this will be acoustic style Karaoke?
Please tell us Ritchie, or do you or this bar have a special licence to use microphones etc?

Hope people dont complain,it will make them as bad as the few moaners that started this trouble.
Of course they could of gotten what Jeff told all the Bars,and that was a special license for the night to celebrate something.
As it happens cant see why the Bars dont do this,This is Spain and they seem to have a special occasion every Day.I believe also these Licenses are free of charge
This is what I don't get. You can obtain a licence from the town hall for a live entertainment act. So surely if bars know what they have coming up then it's that simple. For instance for Xmas fair we contacted Paulino. Filled out the form in English and Spanish on Monday and we use Paulino to bypass Jeff's office because who knows how long paperwork sits there for. So form is handed back to Paulino who takes it to the Mayor and the licence form was authorised and given back in 3 days. So surely that's the easiest thing.
To be honest it's all good saying that but I have a feeling as soon as the music starts by consum the moaners will be complaining instantly.
I don't know you Andi and have only been using this site for a few days but have noticed that you jump in to make things political as soon as you get a chance.
What I think is sad is that the bars that are prepared to risk playing music and having entertainment are not going to be supported and, having seen Richie's karaoke a few times, which I think is brilliant by the way, certain people are attacking both the bar and the entertainer who are trying to provide entertainment for people. Very sad. To suggest that Richie has got a special license because of his contacts is extremely unfair and nasty. Very very unnecessary - you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!
No one has said jack about Richie obtaining a special licence.
I said that the bars should get back to playing music but now it's got to the point it has as soon as the bars do it by consum the complaints will keep coming. No political agenda here infacct I even used to congratulate Jeff at the Begining until recently #letdown. The fact is if bars are going to continue playingusoc it's there at there risk but something has to give either the complaints stop or the bars go back to playing music. Either way times running outt
It was implied by the fact that Richie was targeted, very unfair!
The only thing that bars can do is get a license and become legal - I really don't understand the problem. It seems common sense to me!
But like Cagney's explained it runs into thousands. I don't think Sue was going for Richie either I think she was just pointing out that they had karaoke with him doing it.
Angie must agree with Andi,He was not having a pop at Richie and neither was Sue.I am sure once you have been on this Forum for a short while.You will work out who has gor a bee in there bonnet,and is only here to cause mischief,and others who like to debate most things and some who only comment on one thing only.
The license thing is not cut and dried,A licence costs very little to produce but each council charges a figure that suits them,also the government law states alterations that have to take place prior to getting the Licence,these alterations normally run into thousands,worse still some of the local bars,are not large enough to put these alterations in place,and the other problem is will the landlord allow these alterations to his property,Worse of all,is after all this vast amount has been spent,It will still only take one person to complain to the police that a bar is noisy and the police will visit that bar and tell them to turn down or turn off the music,regardless to if it is noisy or not.
Also most bars have a quiz or bingo sometime during the week,but because they use a microphone to ask the questions or call the numbers they also need to have the full license to do this
At the moment most bars stop entertainment at around midnight or earlier,the only ones to keep entertaiment till 2-3 am are the licensed ones,and as most complaints are about noise between 2am-4am,it is taken that these bars make the noise,but normally even that is wrong because it appears most residents who complain say it is the punters leaving these bars,that cause the problems.
getting back to Richie,I have noticed a couple of times that he has appeared to be picked on,I would think most of this is down to the fact he has a radio station,and some people think he may mention them on that so they can get their 15 minutes of fame,I am sure Richie would be aware of that and just ignore them
I read the comments placed on this forum with great interest on a daily basis mainly while presenting my show and firstly i would like to say Sue thankyou for listening it does show I must be doing something right, secondly my station is independent of political influence as i do not believe in bringing politics into entertainment. Any information posted on my website is gleamed from publicly available information and will continue to do so. I fully support the bars who have supported me which is why i will continue to go to serafins to promote my radio station and in defference to the current situation re. Music i am offering a karaoke with no microphones so that maybe we can have a good old fashioned pub singalong. I have also offered to support the bar for no payment because i firmly believe that this community should get behind businesses that provide a great service and employment in these tough times.
I will be giving out free car stickers tonight and hope that all those people who are enjoying the station come along and pick one up. This forum provides a great service but do believe that it is being hijacked into becoming a media for poliitcal scaremongering. I work all over the costas and generally dont work very often in my home townbut this is the only place where i have experienced the troubles that this urbanisation has. The police have a job to do agreed but it seems to me that a limited number of people are hiding behind annonimity to cause as many problems as possible, personal attacks on myself do not bother me much and if anything i take note of critisisms as hopefully i can improve the service i wish to give. I wont prattle on any more, i do enough of that in the mornings but i do hope people will join me this evening to make a show that regardless of amplification we can still have a good time

I, and probably many others reading this forum do not know what contacts you are referring to. Can someone enlighten us as to who these contacts are?

If you had read angies comment properly she wasnt saying Richie had contacts,she was saying it was infair that some people are saying Richie has contacts,(which is exactly the opposite of what was commented by you)
I think you will find Richie does not need a special license to appear anywhere,the main thing for him is to be registered,and pay his tax and 'Stamp' which I have no doubt he does.
In fact reading back on some of your comments I noticed a previous one,when you claimed a lot of bars had music on Halloween night,and then go on to ask Richie,who appeared at Seraphins that night,was visited by the police,if you wasnt trying to get personall,why didnt you just ask any bar or customers who had been in those bars that had entertainment if they noticed any police visiting.
Sometimes it is better to say nothing.
I have just reregistered my bike to Spanish plates. It has cost me nearly a thousand euros but I have no chance of earning anything to offset the cost. If you need a licence get one and stop whinging about it!!! I have to obey the law so should all these bar owners who complain so much. This has got pathetic. If you get caught after being unlawful for more than three years then you deserve all you get.
This subject is becoming boring. Rules made in Spain on a Friday are broken on a Monday. Get a life!

Are you joking Sue. All the other bars or most of them refusing to do it incase just incase there get shut down. Well it's a Spanish bar what do you expect. I can see a few people making complaints tonight about the bar
