Commented Susan Reader in Quesada 2013-02-27 21:10:07 UTC

We always have great Girlie nights out Susan, so really looking forward to trying this new Venue.

Commented Carol in La Marina 2013-02-27 21:56:19 UTC

Hello, is there any 'nights' organised for the Easter hols. Don't forget schools in England break up Friday the 22nd so most people will be travelling over on the Saturday 23rd, I certainly am, however alot of things are arranged just before or after the holidays. If you want people to join in some of these things it may be an idea to organise some events/nights out/dances in the hols. I will gladly let you know when the schools break up.

Commented Vicky in La Marina 2013-03-02 18:49:32 UTC

Thank you for your posting Vicky, but to be honest with you it doesn't really matter to us about the School holidays.
We just organise our Ladies nights out - usually once a month - when we find a good venue that has a good artist on.

I think you need to find nights out/get togethers more in your own age group.
Good Luck

Commented Carol in La Marina 2013-03-02 20:45:47 UTC

What sort of age group are your Ladies?

Commented spanglish in Quesada 2013-03-03 16:17:46 UTC

All over 90. Sorry only joking - Carol will kill me. haha

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2013-03-03 16:36:55 UTC

ha ha Eve - Good job you're not coming or it would be true for you !! xx

Seriously from 50's upwards

Commented Carol in La Marina 2013-03-03 16:44:44 UTC

Are we talking waist size here Carol ? oh dear I'm a marked man yet again xx

Commented Robert in La Marina 2013-03-03 17:25:02 UTC

Trust you Robert to have to get yourself in amongst us Ladies!!
No you can't come along........................

Commented Carol in La Marina 2013-03-03 17:34:13 UTC

Carol, thanks for answering the email, but how do you know how old I am??? I am actually probably not far off your age - over 50. No disrespect but you don't sound very welcoming to people who would like to try and 'get to know you all'. I have my own friends on La Marina and have owned a house there since 2003, but i do find that these little social groups don't tend to make 'outsiders' very welcome. I live in England at the moment but travel over for all the school holidays, when you say that you're not bothered about school holidays sounds a bit mean and not very inclusive - alot of people have told me about this site and I always try to keep in with events etc but I won't be anymore!!!

Commented Vicky in La Marina 2013-03-03 18:43:49 UTC

carol you come across as a nasty woman . the lady e mailed you so she can fit in and mix and meet more people , it seems like you only want your own few cronies around you and that is fine but you should not be using the public site to promote your own thing that you will not organize around others that want to make an effort.

Commented james in La Marina 2013-03-03 18:58:08 UTC

Vicky/James,

Although I've never met Carol, at least she is trying to get some community spirit going in La Marina. If you don't like what she's doing, why not try and start your own group.

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-03-03 20:02:07 UTC

Oh Carol, Foot and mouth ring a bell

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-03-03 20:03:55 UTC

Thank you Marko for your posting.

It seems to me that if you have to think about School holidays that you have young children, so all I am saying is that you possibly would need to find a younger set of friends to go out with. After all our age group bracket - I have to admit are Grandparents - not parents with school age children.

I would also point out that we are a very nice group of ladies - and i am NOT a nasty person jamesmclaughlin62, and quite a few of our very good friends have joined from this site and have mixed in very well with us *old cronies*.

There is actually no need to be rude. All I am doing is gathering old friends - and NEW ones that I think would enjoy socialising with our group.

Commented Carol in La Marina 2013-03-04 00:00:15 UTC

Carol, what a hostile reply you have given to Vicky, do you know how old she is, NO, do you know if she has young children, NO, she is probably younger than you but actually works with school age children which is why she comes back to La Marina in the school holidays. My advice to you Vicky would be "forget it, you have lots of friends here in La Marina and YOU don't have to advertise for a night out"

Commented Rene in La Marina 2013-03-04 00:14:21 UTC

Well said James I totally agree.

Commented Rene in La Marina 2013-03-04 00:32:46 UTC

This Carol woman is really starting to get on my nerves,..she's is without doubt the most obnoxious person on this forum,..just a couple of weeks ago she was slating some poor waitress for not smiling enough,..before that she was becoming her own branch of the smoking police and now she says that for her girlie nights out (that she freely advertises for other women to attend) you are not welcome if you are "basically a holiday maker"!!! Really just a simple reply of,
"Sorry we only organise our nights out once a month so it's unfortunate that this time you are on holiday there is a chance that we may not actually be doing anything socially"
Come on Carol !!!, use the manners and courtesy you were born with and "DEMAND" others to use around you!!
You really are just a spiteful nasty overbearing self opinionated person.
Oh Marko,....whats that about carol trying to generate a bit of community spirit? Carol didn't show any to Vicky!!
Hey Vicky!,..looks like you had a very lucky escape!!

Commented dragardian in Alicante 2013-03-04 02:24:10 UTC

Cor you lot certainly like to twist things to suit yourselves don't you?

I most certainly was NOT hostile to Vicky. Also I haven't said that if you are on holiday that you cannot come.

I am now closing this Ladies Night out for this month. We now have 15 ladies meeting up for this particular evening - so that is a Fantastic number.

Looking forward to see you all for another Great friendly night out.

Commented Carol in La Marina 2013-03-04 08:12:00 UTC

We have been going along to Carols Girls Nights for the past 10 years (1st one I went to was 2002). They are good fun a chance to meet and make new friends. The ladies are mainly from our own age range, we are all way past going out for the evening and discussing School uniforms. The ladies who go along seem to enjoy music from the 50,60,70s. So if some Ladies want to set up Ladies Nights for a younger age group do so. It makes me smile how so often none doers just want to have a go at those who do get up off their buts and do things.
Keep up the good work Carol, we the over 60s fully applaud your effort’s.

When I think back if it wasn’t for Carols Ladies nights out I would never of met my two main friends out here, that was all down to A girls night out I went to at Rincon de Luna.

Commented Daisy in La Marina 2013-03-04 08:54:59 UTC

Vicky, we would make you very welcome in our group and are always having new ladies join us, but we do only meet once a month and it is normally the last Friday of each month, so please keep an eye here on the forum, as it is always posted up here.

Carol wasn't saying anything about your age, she just said the average age of the group was 50 plus.

Commented Linda Reed in La Marina 2013-03-04 17:38:23 UTC

OOO My gosh how rude jamesmclaughlin62, Carol is a very popular person, as you can see from the turn out she gets from her ladies nights out.

In life we will never get on with everyone but how dare you call her 'a very nasty person'!!!!!

Commented Linda Reed in La Marina 2013-03-04 17:41:03 UTC

Hi, I'm one of those holiday makers, who has school age children, and am very close to 50 (some of us were not teenage mums), who has a family villa in La Marina and has done so for many many years who loves a night out and if the 'locals' feel we are too young for their night out would love to organise something over the Easter Holidays, my children don't break up from school until the 29/3 so we are out from the 1st to 10th April but if any ladies would like to meet up with me just let me know on this public forum and I'll arrange something....my nights out might be a bit lively for the old girls though...lol....but everyone is welcome.

Commented Wendy in La Marina 2013-03-04 19:36:14 UTC

Wendy I would love to meet up for a ladies night out. When I placed my post it wasn't to have a go at anyone. I can't stop other peoples' opinions or posts. I do try to keep up to date with life on La Marina but if it causes some bad feelings and comments then I would rather not say anything. Carol may a nice lady but unfortunately is prejudging before she has even chatted to them or met them. Your 'nights out' do sound as if they can be fun and are probably up my street but I won't be finding out now. Please lets leave this thread now and any ladies out there who are over for the Easter holidays I would love to meet up with them...stay in touch, by the way I am 51 years old.
