Next to Smarts

A couple of friends have queered what is going to be built next to Smarts, well today a local bulder has said that Barclays have the land and are going to build a second office there. True or not not sure. The good old rumor mill also says that Barclays are selling up shortly. Aparently a UK firm has the Business on there books

La Marina

Douglas,
How on earth am I going to believe the two rumours you have mentioned.
Firstly someone has told someone else that Barclays are building another Estate Agents next to Smarts. Then you say that you have heard that Barclays estate agents is possibly up for sale.
Surely one rumour puts the other rumour out of the window.
Which one sounds more realistic.

Who cares! It means that the estate business is good and becoming prosperous for everyone. Houses are selling and the prices are climbing very slowly.George Soros, arguably the world’s most famous financial speculator is taking a major stake in the flotation of a Spanish property group, reflecting an increase in confidence in Spain and other Southern European countries. Soros and fellow hedge fund manager John Paulson have taken €92m stakes in Hispania Activos Inmobiliarios according to the Financial Times. Things are looking up.

Yes George Soros is famous, or infamous, depending on your point of view.
But as for your thinking that because he puts a bit of money into a Spanish Property Company, means all is getting better for Spanish property, is far from his famous thoughts.
In fact one of his sayings is to gamble on the least likely result, as most bets will go on what is the most likely result, thereby if the outsider wins, the odds will be far greater.
If he hasn't changed his philosophy, surely that means that the outsider (or least likely result) would be a strengthening of the Spanish property scene.
Of course if you and thousands of others with your thoughts talk up the Spanish Property market, it may well turn the tide on property prices in Spain which will eventually prove good old George correct, and also help the countless thousands of people who are trying to sell their property.
Bit heavy, but just my opinion.

Great to hear a property company or any other for that matter doing well in Spain. Good luck with your new office!
