I think the live music complaints are about to flood ASL

Have just read on another Local Forum, That Chief O Neills will have live music on 23rd May, When Magnum 44 will play a Led Zepplin tribute, I think the problem with this is that the show is due to start at 11.30 pm.
So after many months of not having to read constantly on this Forum of bars playing loud music at late evening times, Just think how many people will complain about music belting out heavy rock into the early hours of the morning.
Mind you perhaps the police and Council have been informed and made it quite clear as to the new local agreement that they have made with the bar owners etc. to Chief O Neills

La Marina

Stop doing what you do best Alan stirring yes Magnum 44 will be playing there and it will start at 23.30 but as Cheif O Neills is one of the FEW bars with the correct licences AND sound proofing the only problem will be when punters are going home after. The noise that they make happens all the time.

Agnes,
You may of slightly mis-understood what I was saying
I was in fact answering davids comment of me "stirring" the situation. Which is why I reminded him that in some previous comments that he made on this Forum he had used tactics that were really stirring. Hence the part about Pot calling Kettle black.
Hope that makes things clearer for you.

I never thought I would get involved with this topic, but I have just attended a restaurant that had a live musician, only one, playing melodeous music for people in their 70s and 80s one couple celebrating their Golden wedding bringing the whole family of 18 + children over from the UK and two other people celebrating their 80th birthday. During the meal the restaurant was raided, no other word for it at 21:20 by a very irrate rude and obnoxious member of the police force, who was showing no id on his uniform to identify himself. He threatened if the music did not cease immediately he would fine the restaurant 2,000 euros and close the premises down. I tried to talk to him along with my daughter and was basically told to shut up. I don't know if it possible to make an official complaint or even if I did would anything happen apart from alienating myself from the officials who run the Urbanisation and get myself into hot water. I am recovering from a stroke and am very soon returning to the UK for a serious operation, so don't know whether or not I will ever be able to return to La Marina, and it is such a shame that possibly my last memories of life in the Urbanisation has been soured by this incident.

Hi Robert,
Sorry to hear about the trouble you had,
Last week it was announced that a meeting was to be held between the Chief of Police, Councillor Paulinho, and a bar owner. I gather this meeting took place, as it was announced by Sam from the Councillors Office, that new rules had been set in place.
The weird thing about what you witnessed is that many live music events have taken place since these rules were agreed, without a problem, I gather that one Bar was asked by the Police to close there door and windows.
Just, recently I have heard a rumour and I stress, it is a rumour that on some occasions in the past it was a police officer making a complaint via his mobile, I am just wondering that IF this were true, Perhaps the new rules somehow stopped this happening and the Officer himself, is making up his own rules. As I stress I was told this and although the person who told me is completely reliable, Neither they or I have any proof that this type of thing goes on in La Marina, So I stress once more it is only a rumour but as such, it does just have the ring of possible about it

It was like history repeating itself, as this happened almost three years ago when Rojos a birthday night for me, with the proceeds going to the charity I support. Fortunately on that occasion the singer carried on singing without his microphone and had an acoustic guitar.
We had been invited to Rojos by the couple, one of which was celebrating his 82nd birthday and we arrived as a very irate gentleman was shouting at the owner, then the police arrived and Tommy Marr has to stop singing and it was only 9.45pm. It wasn't as if he was singing loud, it was just like background music.
But, the evening carried on by the owners putting on Tommy Marrs CD and playing through their sound system ....... so what was the difference??
Nought more strange than folk!!!!

Linda,
As you say nought queer as folk, Unfortunately I am fed up of trying to be nice to these sickos, Who think that they are bar room solictors and can control what you and I can or cannot do with our own time and money.
It is time to fight back and tell these morons to get stuffed. Also time to tell the Police to do what we pay them for, and that is not to threaten bar owners because of the occasional pointless phone call. But to fine these wasters for the waste of police time, or is it that the police actually enjoy spoiling tax payers (At the end of the day ,it is us that pay the wages to the police for them to do things properly) lives ,by kow towing to the ignorant few who unfortunately have nothing better to do.
So to the moaners I say get a life, and to the police I say do your job properly and be realistic with what you do.
