Gholma Energia S.L.

The new petrol-station, gasolinera, down at Lidl has good prices.
But a little peculiar way of handling the payment if you use your card and fill up your tank, lleno. First you have to pay 150,00 Euros and get the difference from what you buy back into the card. On my bank statement it looked very peculiar. But the result after a day was ok. So I can recommend this new station.

So are you saying that they do not accept Cash?????

They accept cash. And cards

What's the point in taking 150 euros off your card and giving you back the difference? Don't understand. I certainly wouldn't do that.

Carol,
I agree with you, but if you choose full tank, lleno (spanish), and pay with your card you don´t have any other option. I was really surprised and had to go back to the station and ask the man working there how it works. He explained the card-payment procedure to me. But I still do not understand why it is necessary if your card is ok.

He must do the transaction before you fill up and as he doesnt know how much you will have he must take 150 and you get the rest back.

But if you have a card which is ok and puts it in the machine controlling the pump one would think it would be sufficient. That is how it works in most countries. But not here.

The man at the fuel station does not set the amount, the machine does that. The 150 euros is to cover the amount if you decide to fill your tank. Someone might go in to fill up a huge tank therefore the machine sets the limit you can go to on one fill, hope this explains it for you.

I can't be doing with all that hassle. I will stick to the one up near El Castillo. Nothing complicated there.
They fill up for you and then you just go to the till and pay cash or the CORRECT amount is taken from your credit card.

Commented Carol in La Marina 2015-05-16 21:37:51 UTC

Yes, but that does not explain why a ok credit card is not good for a full tank. I understand how this station is handling the payment and I am going to go there again to fill up my tank. Even if I do not understand why you first have to pay 150 Euro if you have an accepted credit card.

Reindeer Keeper, are you thick or what (answers on a postcard please), it's a machine, how can it know how big your petrol tank is to charge your as you say "a ok card". Or maybe you think it is human because petrol pumps talk.

Luvmylife,
since you obviously do not know and never have used your card, Visa or Master-Card or similar, at a petrol-station anywhere in Europe I will try to explain how it works. Not everywhere but in most places. A not so unusual way is that the company there you pay with your card take a small sum, 10 centimos up to 1 Euro, just to check your card to see if you have a credit enough to pay for what you are going to buy. This small sum is automatically paid back and you will in most cases never notice this.
I hope this simple explanation will help you and others who doubt my intelligence and think I don't know anything.
And I will not be impolite and write what I think about certain comments and about the ones who wrote them!
I leave it to others to be impolite.

Just a note about new petrol station.
I have used it a few times and if you only need 20 euro of petrol you only pay for 20 euros.
Surly you know what amount of petrol you need ???.
Or is it only me that puts in the amount by multiples of 10 euro.
Gezz

I normally fill my tank up but as you say if you tell the machine you want a specific amount no problem, either way you only pay for what you get.
