Charges made for paying by debit/credit card

On the 30 March 2011 Which? issued a surcharge super complaint to the Office of Fair Trading over the fees retailers charge consumers for paying by credit or debit card. Low cost airlines are among the worst offenders. They asked for upfront costs, fair charges and for retailers to absorb the cost of the fee to process a debit card payment.

I have pledged my support to this also - the charges made by some of the airlines are ridiculous and something should be done about it. There is no way that the charges they make are what they pay to the credit card companies, its just another way of making more money and make cheap flights become expensive.

Have just seen this post - I noticed when checking the Ryanair website yesterday for some flights that they are also now charging delay/cancel levy of £2!!!! Yet more fees added to the final price....

I agree - and if you are taking luggage with Ryanair they charge ridiculous amounts. Beware with hand luggage too as they check this now - we travelled the other week and one of ours was a little too wide to fit in the baggage checker but they wouldnt let us swap anything over to the other cases even though 2 of them were half empty....they wouldnt even let us move the clothes around as there was room at the top of the bag (one of the kids had packed it herself and packed it wide rather than spreading it around and we didnt notice)....cost us €35 to check it in - i try not to fly with them now if i can help it.
