Friendship Group

Do you live in La Marina surrounded by people but feel very lonely? After seeing the idea of a Friendship Group started by Paul Cunningham Nurses, I called them to ask what was invloved. This is a friendship group where people arrange to meet once a week at various locations but sadly this will not help me as I care for my husband all day, every day and other than to go shopping I rarely get out. However, I have the idea to start a different kind of group where you can come and meet me at my home or we can put tables and chairs in the garden and have a home cafe bar! I am in La Marina, very near to the Iceland Road (locally known as the bottom road) so if you live near the 'bottom road' and would like to meet up sometimes for coffee and a chat please contact me ([email protected]) and let's get something up and running. This group is open to everyone, not just people who care for a loved one, it could just be that you are on your own and in need of a friend. Anne

This is one of the many good things about the forum, a chance to make friends that you possible would never normally of had the opportunity to come into contact with. I do hope that this project takes off and not to many think about it and never respond. Making new friends over here is very important and sometimes very hard if you are not able to get out that often. Please keep us updated.

I just wanted to say I think this forum is great and so easy to use. The Paul Cunningham Nurses general friendships groups are in their infancy but already we have one in Playa Flamenca, one in Quesada and next week we have the first meeting in the Sports Complex in La Marina on Tuesday at 11.00a.m. These groups will not be run by Paul Cunningham Nurses but by members of the groups themselves - there are no 'rules' only that people meet and be nice to each other! So far it is working well. Susan

Hola Anne,

I would like to volunteer my services to you, if you would like to have a few hours out, go and have your hair done, meet with friends etc., I would come and sit with your husband to give you a well earnt break.

My background is Health & Social Care and I ran my own community care company in the UK for over 10 years, caring for people who lived in their own homes and giving their families "Time-Out" as we called it to re-charge their batteries.

Due to my own health problems (bad back - nursing injury), I sold my business and worked the last 10 years as a lecturer in health and social care.

Oh How lovely of you Linda. Ann - your husband would certainly be in safe hands with Linda looking after him - she is such a happy caring person. When we go out we spend most of the night laughing and having fun. I have several very good friends over here in Spain and Linda is most certainly one of them lol x
