Hillside Swimming Pool

I'm hearing rumours that the Hillside Pool won't be open again this Summer....what a shame if this is true...villas seem to be rented out for the Summer so this could be a lost opportunity. How about some of the bars at that end of the Urb getting together and opening it like a coop for the Summer months could boost your business!!!!!....what do others think??? We are out for our usual 3 weeks this Summer so thats 4 potential customers lost.

La Marina

I have now heard this rumor from several directions. The pool area is to holiday makers a major attraction. Far more than a lot of us that live hear realise. So instead of an unwanted Rock Concert why cant the Council find a way of renting it from the private owner and have it run on a commercial basis for the main holiday months.
I have also been told that it's closure last season affected the trade in the Hillside bar and snooker club.

In the same way as the Councillor on the Urb does not like being taken to task up here, i would think that the guy who owns the leasehold to several of the larger concessions up here will not be very happy that the Public are starting to get a voice. There are times when the monied have far to much clout. That pool not being open again this summer is another stab in the back for La Marina, not so much us who live here but the holiday makers.

Although I feel that we as residents of La Marina Urb,would like to have the pool at Hillside open,I can only think that if it was at all profitable, then the owner would open it,The cost of paying for a lifeguard and also someone to collect money at the turnstile, plus of course the water and the components to keep it clean and healthy, must eat into most of the takings, plus of course damage that normally occurs, add that to a few days of bad weather.
i am sure that anybody who has a gameplan that could make a profit from the pool, would only need to àpproach the owner with a plan, and if the owner thought it was viable he would rent it to him at a reasonable rate,on the assumption that a little profit for him (rent wise)is better than no profit at all.
But at the end of the day the owner does not owe us anything,so why should he run something at a loss, just to please us and the holiday makers.

Could not agree more. People coming on holiday will be missing out again. This could stop them returning. La Marina?? never heard of it.

Alan I totally agree with you. The gentleman they are talking about is not "Father Christmas". He does have to run his business at a loss . As for these people who feel so strongly about it, why don't they approach the said gentleman and tell him how they feel, rather than posting comments up here that he probably does not even see. But, at the end of the day, he does not have to justify himself to anyone.
